where are some big empty parking lots in the city/Northside, or near the city. where I can teach my girl to drive?? Is the devry parking lot by lane tech high school any good?

HS or mall parking lot on Sundays after it closes. That's where I taught my wife to drive stick.

Lane tech lot will be patrolled since the 5.0 is right down the street at Belmont/Western.

It's a big open lot and if you do it right after hours when everyone leaves, you should be fine for a while.

I had the concept of riding a bike (motorcycle) with only about 5 minutes of experience from when I was 12 on a dirt bike. Didn't actually learn until I bought my first bike and rode from Elgin to McHenry and back.

This. Stop and go rush hour traffic on 294. Had driven a 4 speed 91 Civic for a day or two, then went and picked the car up.

I also knew a guy who never drove stick in his life fly out east and learned driving a Porsche back

one way to do it! I learned stick driving 14hrs overnight to alabama, v10 f350 pulling a trailer The gas stops were rough. I was helping a buddy with a side job and we had to be in birmingham by 8am. Did an hour of work and turned right back around to chicago

Preferred proving grounds? Big Cemeteries.

Cemetery. Has roads, little traffic and can't hurt much if things go wrong.

I taught an ex-GF stick in Harper parking lot. Lot's of hills, open areas, and has it's own ring road which simulates real roads. Would probably be a trek, and there's probably better options closer by
