In the interest of new threads and using the sponsor section for detailing specific things, I would like to share a minor project.
As most of you know, my truck is parked outside and has now seen 4 years of mother nature.
I started on the wheel well trim, windshield cowl, the front lower bumper air dam and eventually said why not and hit the wheel well liners. The fabric liners were coated in bed liner in October of 2020.
I started by cleaning the plastics with Gtechniq Citrus all purpose cleaner @ 10:1 and a tuf shine tire brush. I rinsed with ONR and dried.
I used Isopropyl alcohol to prep the plastic.
I applied solution finish with a small MF applicator pad. Let it soak in for about 5 minutes and wiped the excess off. Once I made my way around all 4 corners, the lower bumper trim and the cowl, I applied Over the top.
This product is made by Solution Finish. The idea here is to seal the plastic that has been restored BUT leave it permeable for future solution finish applications. Can a ceramic coating be used over the restored plastic, yes. The concern is that the coating will lock out future 'restoring' attempts.
I did not take any pictures at this time, it was hot and I was done working in the sun.
I did not use over the top for the wheel well liners because The bottle is not that big and I did not want to waste product. The wheel well liners will get beat up and I can reapply the solution finish whenever I want.
Last night, I worked on the bed side caps, tailgate cap and the rear bumper plastics.
Same process but I made a bucket of ONR to rinseless wash the bed sides. tailgate and bumper.
Here are a couple before pictures:
Here you can see the vertical section to the left is chalky
And a few afters:
