If you get there right when they open and get thru tech right away you should be able to make a fair amount of passes.

Keep in mind though that is all dependent upon how busy it is, how many cars show up, and if someone breaks on the track or not.

How strict are they on tech? Like similar to Byron or more like 66?

I've never been thru tech at Rte 66 or Byron but I can't imagine it's anymore strict than them

Well sometimes at byron you don't even have to take the car out of the trailer lol. They are VERY lax, I've never raced at 66 but I understand they are Uber strict. I have an idea what my car will run but I don't have a fire suit, shute, or anything other than an 8 point cage.

I think they may park you if you don't have the proper safety equipment...i.e. Helmet, fire jacket, etc

I bring a helmet and they let me go without much question, and I drive a convertible with no cage. The only comment they've ever made to me was that I needed a drive shaft safety loop, probably because I run a full slick.

Just bring a helmet in case they ask.

Bring pants and a helmet, no short's is a rule. If it's carbed it needs to have a double return spring on the throttle cable. If the battery is in the back they look for a Shut off switch. They also look for radiator overflow and sometimes a trans overflow catch can.

Wednesdays is not day that it is usually crowed so you should get in a good amount of passes in. I average 4-5 passes in with cooling the car down and making small adjustments when its is crowded on a thursday-friday or Saturday, but I don't hot lap my shit usually in mid summer in the fall if I can I do sometimes.

I doubt it will be an issue. Legend has it that someone in a Red S197 once ran a high 9 at GLD w/o a cage, belts, etc. They were short staging him so he could get his 9 that day. (Hint, it was Dennis. :smile: )

GLD never questioned my car even after running 10.5 there.. then 10.3 a few weeks later.. then 10.1 a week later

They are not harsh on cage cert. just tell them you are planning on getting it recertification in the fall when they do it at the track. It's an IHRA track so the rules are more lenient than if it was a NHRA track. Don't sweat it.

Good deal. Just ordered a 2 step not for sure if I'll be able to make it or not gotta get the car in order and the 20th is my dad's birthday, not for sure what his plans are yet.
