They’ve coexisted quite a bit in the same room with the cat up in the window or the perch and the cat doesn’t care anymore. Dog is curious but isn’t doing much other than watch her or sometimes put his front paws up to sniff her or even lick her.

Only issues so far has been twice when the cat jumps down he will go to chase her. So far he’s stopped when told “off” and “place” so that’s good.

Just a bit less tension and the cat not high up would be nice. Progress is being made but it feels slow.
Mine will bark and chase after the wifes cat still but its more of a game with them now and the cat wants him to chase him.....

If the dog stops running down the hallway after the cat, the cat literally will run after the dog and the dog will run to my wife and make her pick him up like a bitch. :bowrofl:

We put a cat tree in the living room to give the cat a space the dog cant reach but he gives no fucks about the dog and eggs him on more than anything so we're not worried about it at all. Between that and the minimal size difference it's been pretty smooth sailing really.

Wife and I Want to get a dog from a shelter. both shelters have a process to adopt as dog so we fill it out the form. These shelters call your vets office to check that you have been caring for your current pets, ask for all Vet Records for the entire history of your pets, and must show grooming records too. seems excessive but whatever. so my wife just came down and said fuck the shelters.. Both of them will not allow us to adopt because we don't have complete records for our 15yo dog Sam and specifically require records of when and where he was neutered plus told us he has to be vaccinated even though the vets office stated at his age he should not be. without these records and him being vaccinated they will deny us.. WTF?

Yup they are straight gestapo.. We know of rescues like this. It's easier to adopt a child.

Well we are not spending $700 to take a 15 year old dog to some approved Vets office because some shelter is demanding a special checkup and tests because our Vet is not good enough. Nope. We got our Huskimo from a local breeder and yeah it was in her backyard and they have a male and female and 1 litter at a time.

So 2 shelters shut you down. There's no other shelters?

Ever searched actual rescues?
Virtually all of the shelters/rescues within about a 30 mile distance all wanted the vet records and such from our previous dogs as well. Was quite annoying.

Weird, honestly the rescue we used seemed too fucking relaxed

$400 later we had a dog. We had to do a “virtual” tour with our application but that’s it

I was looking at a couple with my wife and it seems the standard now is full vet records, virtual or in person home inspection, and some of them require a fenced in yard. we have 2 110ft long trolley systems for the dogs but I guess that is not enough.

Oh man, and all those fucking applications. All for them to say, "oh, the dog you were interested found a home last week."

I think my two can get to that point. I mean the dog has gone as far as licking the cat like 5 times and the cat was tolerant with it till he pawed towards her on the perch.

"we have too many animals, we will need to euthanize them..."

"I'll take one...."

"We need your W2's for the past ten years, dental records, nd you need to live on a fenced in 40 acres.... Plus the adoption fee is $2,000."

"Breeder it is..."

"why is everyone going to breeders?"

:s00ls:

I respect people going to shelters if they find a good fit, but going to a breeder is fine by me if your plan is to take care of the dog for its entire life as long as its not some shithole puppy mill.

I tried adopting big dogs from every shelter that had one in the breed I was okay with. Every single one either denied me or took months to approve me and by then the dog was gone. I did adopt one from a rescue that was at like a Petsmart on a Saturday. It died two days later from distemper and came with all the records saying it was good to go.

He’s a sweet boy and great with my kids. He’s not a bad energy amount but guessing the husky is where the dickhead part comes from. We thought he had some sort of Shepard/cattle dog in him and that must be where his coloring comes from. The pit part I’m good with. Anybody I’ve known with a pit or pit mix has had good luck. They seem like great family dogs and protective.
