That was also about max for that trailer as far as load weight goes. Trailer is 14,000# GVRW, I’m assuming that truck is somewhere around 11,000. Trailer is in the 4-5k range.

With 15% tongue weight I had 13,200 ish on the trailer. Had about 3/4” clearance from the top of my tires to the bottom of the deck, and those trailers are know to rub tires going up entryways and on uneven terrain as it is. But since that’s about max of what will end up on it size and weight wise I’m good with it.

Update on the 6.0 F-450 DEEZUZ DEEZUZ

Turbo oil feed line was missing, Grabbed a used one and installed. Two new batteries and it fired with no CEL‘s. Missing an exhaust back pressure sensor and needs the ficm and coolant tank bolted back down and still no key because 30 day title delay (I’ll have it tomorrow finally).

Going to have a locksmith there tomorrow AM and I will be planning on getting it all buttoned up under the hood and going for a test drive. I’ll try to remember to get some pictures of that tomorrow.

Also bought a few new trucks today.

2012 Chevy K2500 4x4

2012 Chevy C3500

2007 Ranger no pics yet

Idk what will end up where, one of the chevys will stick around through the winter for a tow rig. Might sell Yukon, might not? Who the fuck knows.

Me too, that’s definitely the most practical of the bunch. I’m either going to keep that and the F-450 and sell the 3500 flatbed, my Yukon and my 95 dodge plow truck and put a plow on the k2500 OR I’m going to sell it, keep The Chevy flatbed, dodge and Yukon and sell the 450. Either way bets me around the same amount of profit/money back and what I will retain will have cost about the same.

I’m excited to compare the 3500 to the F450. I know it’s not an apples to apples comparison, but I’ve been wanting a dually tow vehicle for some time now. Moving shit like that F-450 with my SRW F-350 is doable, but not ideal. It was 96 miles home from Morris with that F-450 and I don’t think I would’ve wanted to do much more than that.

The F-450 will shine being a diesel, being a 450 and more than likely having 4.30’s in it. The utility body would be useful for tools and whatnot and could serve a dual purpose as a mechanics truck since I work on stuff at 3 different areas and have to pack it all into bags in a saddle box currently.

The 3500 Chevy will shine since it has an 11’ flatbed, essentially giving me 8’6”x 36’ of Flat deck space counting my trailer for transporting stuff. Being a gasser, I won’t be as concerned about letting it sit for weeks at a time and with a 6-speed and 4.10’s should have plenty of power to do what I need it to do.

Total toss up.

F-450 update...

I’m pretty sure the truck got parked because the steering column got messed up. Had the locksmith out this AM to make keys and the tumbler wouldn’t allow you to get to the start position. Bought a used column today and threw it in (kick in the nuts because it came with a key so the $200 locksmith rekey was irrelevant. During the swap I saw the steering wheel bolt was missing and they cracked part of the aluminum wheel hub off with a puller.

Replaced the missing EBPV and tightened everything back up under the hood, replaced the missing charge pipe clamp, etc.

Put 60 miles on it today. Towing the three trucks I bought home with it tomorrow so we’ll see how that goes.

DEEZUZ DEEZUZ do you happen to know what’s involved in adding cruise control? The column/wheel I bought is a tilt/cruise wheel and it would be awesome for that to function.

Here’s some pictures of the mint unit. Just about to click 89,000 miles. All in I think I’m in this thing like $1,900 tops. Should be a good beater if it sticks around.

Might have to track down a rear door if it sticks around. Cab corners are rusted but the rockers are still 100% solid and the other three doors are fine. But dang it that one door pisses me off.

How much do you love your life?
Legit question. From what I see, you don't have a typical "9-5" job. You operate your own gig.
I'm not at all saying it's easy but it must be better than us other schmo's sitting at a desk for 8-10 hours a day

I fucking love it man... This is my full time gig. I have seven hour days, I have 16.

I‘m wired a little bit different. I HATE the repetition of the “normal” world. I can’t wake up and do the same task in the same place with the same people for 40+ hours a week. Luckily when the wires got screwed up in my brain it came with the capacity to stomach the financial stress of going 6-8 weeks without a paycheck, wiring $20,000 on a truck 1,100 miles away sight unseen, etc. I just have this awesome, maybe even naive confidence that everything pans out in the end.

I’m the buyer, seller, mechanic, painter, detailer, parts department, transportation, logistics and QC department all in one. I have no help. I work better that way. Let’s no two days be alike. Yesterday I spent about five hours on that 6.0, hour on the phone dealing with payments and shit and that was about it.

Today I’m running between McHenry and Beloit, Wis 3 times picking up the three vehicles I posted I bought on Tuesday. Tomorrow will be something totally different.

Something to be said about being able to drop in a Waylon Jennings CD into a truck I’ve put 28 miles on ever, hook a trailer to it, say “fuck it” and hit the road.

Hooked up my edge to this one since my 7.3 is all analog gauges. This was 30 min into towing a trailer. Very happy with the EOT/ECT spread. Right on the money with FICM voltage as well.

Did a 30 min sticker removal job as well. Still a lot to be desired as far as clean up. Going to track down some 2011+ XL buckets with jump seat/arm rest. I want vinyl since I’ll be getting in it dirty, but I hate the older benches with no arm rest and the current seat is FUBAR

I was thinking it was a bit low but that picture was taken at like 7am when it was 30* so I didn’t read too far into it. I think the highest I saw was 184. All I cared about was EOT < 20* difference.

I’ll throw one in on Monday when I change the oil and fuel filters. Wish I would have done it before adding coolant since everything was taken apart lol.
