I've got a little bit of a moral dilemma going here...
So on Saturday AM I sold my '07 Ram to a guy from Kansas. I disclosed all of the issues I knew about on the truck (AC needed charged, front u-joint needed replaced, ABS sensor was throwing a code). I even provided a pair of brand new MOOG wheel bearings, u-joints and axle seals and negotiated accordingly...
Mind you, I've driven this truck multiple states over pulling a trailer and never had a single issue with it aside from the AC condenser getting blown out by a rock. I got in my new work truck (the '12 Silverado flatbed) about two months ago and really hadn't driven the Dodge since then. Put like 30 miles on it Saturday AM before the guy arrived, sold it to him and left for Hayward.
He calls me about an hour after saying the dash isn't lighting up and the radio went off. On my life I never had that happen before. Told him to fuck with the ignition switch, kinda seemed like that could be a cause and also suggested checking the battery cables because dodges like to do funky shit when they have bad electrical connections to the battery. Never heard back.... Fast forward six hours later, guy calls me saying the clutch pedal is hard as a rock and that the clutch is smoking??? Granted, he was driving it pretty hard on the test drive, but I figured he was just checking for slips and whatnot. Guy is in town to buy the truck, decided to go to downtown Chicago for vacation with his family and now this monstrosity of a vehicle is stuck at a restaurant in the city....
I gave him a friends info that owns a shop in the area and never heard back. IDK, I just feel like a dick even though neither issue was something someone could "hide"... it's more of a reputation thing, but I genuinely feel bad for the dude. Told him to take the truck to my friend and I'd consider helping him out with the repairs, but nowhere else. Friend has worked on this truck in the past and knows it, so I trust he'll be straight with me with whatever the issue is. I haven't heard from him since, but I guess he ended up calling my friend and telling him how he's not happy with me. Just sucks. I know I've been on the receiving end of that more than once, but never as a seller.
