Everyone here knows I love square bodies and my history with them… Moreso, you know my desire to torture myself with projects just because of the story behind them.

Here’s the next one. ‘78 Silverado C30. 3+3 Camper Special. Odometer reads 38,000 miles, seller stated 138,000. Purchased from the original owners who bought it new in 1978 and has Classy Chassis give it the full treatment (paint, interior, etc). It spent the late 70’s through the late 90’s on the show circuit where its owners won multiple world and futurity titles.

Parked in 2002 due to a locked up brake caliper, it was replaced with a 2002 Duramax that currently sits at 61,000 miles. The plan is to drag it out of its present resting place, tow it home and get it driving. I may leave it dirty for a bit as the MCACN guys may want to display in barn finds.

So there’s that. I will do my absolute best to update this thread and take a lot of pictures throughout the process.

That must have been one comfortable AF ride in its prime. Looks like they stuffed a couch in there.

Bet she cleans up real nice, maybe some paint fade but it certainly seems nice enough to be a restore candidate. Doesn't seem to be any rot anywhere that I see in the pics.

I’m shooting for dragging the truck home tomorrow. I’m tempted to just fire off a RockAuto order now, but I think I should wait to see what’s salvageable. I’ll end up doing a full tune up eventually, but for now the checklist is pretty much

-battery
-turn it over by hand
-disconnect fuel line to tank, hook up boat tank.
-try and start
