Need a qualified tech, someone experienced with a '95 F-250 Super Duty.
Smoked the auto trans and was told I MUST rebuild the one I have and can't risk just buying a rebuilt/used??
I was told it was a split year, and one model will not be right with the computer if I have the other model??

Is it possible they had 2 auto trans and the electronics are different??

I'd like to get this thing back to work without spending $2000-2500+!!

If the experts say don't buy used, I won't, but is it worth rebuilding or getting a rebuilt factory unit??

Thanks guys,

.

i thought they didnt switch to the E4OD trans until 96 - whats the MFR Date? I suppose if its a late 95 its possible...

either way - your truck would use the same trans a gas 1-ton truck would use - elcetronics should be the same - I would not rebuild to stock specs unless you never tow/haul anything... at least upgrade the converter

call a trans shop - FinishLineTrans.com - they are local

I'm just trying to figure out what is true and what is BS.
I can try and crawl under there if that's what we need to be sure.
I don't need a trans guy, we will pull it and swap it out, but like I said,
I was told I can't just replace it??
The truck is only used for towing, so it is definitely ran hard, and pulls a fairly heavy load.

I just wish I could figure out if the computer/electronics were changed at some point or any E4OD will work??

Thanks.

The engine is definitely the better HP turbo power stroke.

94 was the split year between the IDI and Powerstroke engines.

An E4OD is an E4OD. Pretty much all the same between 94.5-97 last i checked.

Thanks that's good news.
I guess the info I have been getting was wrong, that's why I wanted to ask!!

Now all I have to get is a low mileage E4OD from a smashed truck, or recently rebuilt??

I'd find a rebuilt one or have it rebuilt. E4OD's barely handle the power from the factory let alone one with miles on it.

So are you saying I was very lucky getting 170,000 out of it since it towed bulldozers & racecars it's whole life??
If I have to, I will rebuild the one I have to an upgraded strength,
I'm just trying to do this on the cheap since this is just a back up vehicle.

Thanks again for the info!!
