this has come a long way since my brother seeing me play ff2 on the snes and making fun of the fact that for a melee attack the characters would just step forward and swing their sword.
i think we romanticize a lot of things from our childhood but i don't think it's a stretch to say this game was awesome and is still awesome.

2 is fancy. The original ff when you just had like 4 8 bit characters was the holy grail as a kid and one of the biggest complaints I see about these games is they aren't turn based like they used to be. I'm not sayin take it back to that by any means but they've always been games that require you to have a brain and use critical thinking to get through things. I wouldn't say that's the case so much anymore but running around for literal days at a time trying to get everything beat in 7 and 8 was a lot of my teenage years come and gone. Some of that was brought back in 15 but I think the grind is going towards the wayside as well in favor of linear storylines and almost constant cutscenes to keep people pulled into it. Cue ffx which was pretty epic for the time until they spun it off and tried to live on its coat tails for way too long.

I really think they just lost the nostalgia with all that. I get they're pretending to tell more of a story, but it's 20 years later and they're really better off just starting a whole new storyline instead of recycling this one and shitting on what it was.

Demo is out, for a little over a week I think. I just played it yesterday. It's about 1.5 hours or so. Half the introduction chapter if I had to guess. They're launching a 2nd part of the demo this upcoming week along with some graphics and performance improvements (some parts were clearly unpolished). It plays just like the 1st and I'm absolutely STOKED for the whole game.

Ive only seen very limited gameplay about that game, it's supposed to be like Starship Troopers as a game?
