3100 vs 3700. You can gut a LOT of bullshit out of the GTOs though. Guys can get them down to f-body weight without sacrificing ride, comfort, or anything else.

If you want an actually decent V8 DD with great seats and comfortable, spend less and get an 04. If you want the "better" engine and is a little more aesthetically pleasing, get an 06. The only thing that would make me buy an 05 is that Midnight Blue Metallic is only offered on 05s. Best color, imo.

My car will pull 26 plus on the hwy and that is without the lean cruise tune (that I don't have). Of course that is doing the speed limit in 6th with cruise on.

Or maybe he wants more cargo space? That trunk is like a second glove box

Yup, need some HP Tuners for that. Which I haven't bought yet.

The Double OD is nice, 5th is very usable as you can start using it at 40. So 35 zones are all 42s for me.

I'm almost in the same boat but, I got the house and bought my wife a new car. That's where I fucked up. I bought her a car with all the bells and whistles. Now I dont have much room for me and a car payment. She went from a 2002 Cavalier to a 2011 Sonata. I spoiled her and fucked me. Oh well

From what I've read:

The 05's and '06's have seats which adjust a lot faster than the '04. The '06 also has steering wheel controls and trunk release. Also, the suspension in the later cars is superior. The '05's and '06's also have an LS2 (instead of the LS1), giving them 50 more ponies.

Doesn't sound like they have too many mechanical problems, unless you abuse and mod the heck out of them....which goes for EVERY car on the road.

Lastly, the manuals are said to get better gas mileage due to gearing.

I think only 06 got the faster seats. Never heard the suspension was better, I thought it was garbage for all 3 years.

- The gas tank is in the trunk. Space is very limited.
- I had an issue last year with the ignition cylinder getting stuck (a pretty common problem). This was fixed with a dremel.
- Insurance is relatively inexpensive. I pay $126 a month through geico for full coverage on my GTO and Grand Prix's.
- Seats are comfortable. Very comfortable.
