I'm leaning towards a f150 truck. 1 is a 2010 with 98k, 4.6 v8 4x4 quad cab. And a 2013 EcoBoost turbo. I really dont know much about truck. Are either of these good? The EcoBoost has 136k on it. Also a quad cab.

If you get a v8 get one with the 5.0 should be 2011 or newer, some of the early ecoboost had issues but I don’t know much about them

I'll look more for a 2011, but I wont be pulling anything really. This will just be to bring bikes and stuff around. They wont be under any real heavy loads. I just dont know if they will last.

I agree. The 4.6 is a good engine, but if you look for a f150 a year newer, you get the 5.0 which is a huge step up.

The ecoboost had some problems the 1st two years with condensation in the intercooler, but they fixed that in 2013. There are also timing chain issues that may rise. There is an updated design, so check to see if they have been replaced. If not, listen to it idle for noise.

My dad and I test drove a f150 last winter with the 5.0. it had almost 250k miles on it. The thing ran like a new one.

Do not buy a 4.6 it’s really under powered and gets the same if not worse than a 5.0 or 3.5 eco.

All my old techs would say the 5.0 is the one to buy because they will last longer and more dependable.

5.0/6.2’s are great engines. I’ve owned 4 6.2 trucks all over 200,000 miles and they’re great. I regularly see 200,000+ mile ones at fleet auctions, and they aren’t your typical “daily drivers” as far as abuse is concerned. Like everyone said the 4.6 are good, but they are underpowered. Early eco boost trucks had their share of issues as well, so, if a headache free truck with adequate power is what you’re looking for I vote 5.0

I had a 2013 crew cab ecoboost and it was nothing but problems. Was at the dealer about once every 3 months for somewhat major repairs. At 90k the timing chain stretched and I got rid of it after getting it fixed.

On the other hand my dad has a 2012 and my mom has a 2013 explorer with the 3.5TT that have had relatively no issues since new.

If you're just going to drive it, get a 5.0

If you want to tinker with it, get the Ecoboost. Great motor. Loves octane and tune does wonders.
