Kick ass man.So I did a 50 mile gravel race up north of Hayward, WI on Sunday. Most of these I do are 63 miles so I thought this would be pretty easy. I was sorely mistaken. 50 miles of ATV trails, logging roads and some of the roughest gravel roads Iāve ever been on. I ran 43c knobby tires and wish I had more. Going 30mph downhill into sandy loose washed out gravel makes your butthole pucker real quick. Iāve done events with bigger climbs than this one but they have pavement sections or flats where you could recover. This was 50 miles of downhill into uphills. Went in with the strategy of not blowing my legs up and I thought I went heavy enough on my electrolyte mix but I did not. At exactly mile 49 there was one final hill and my legs both locked up solid. Thighs, calves everything cramped solid. It was wild. I straight leg waddled to the top of the hill and then managed to take more drinks and punch and shake the cramps out. Only lost one position to that so it worked out. Iāve only been ācyclingā a year so Iām not too hard on myself. I finish at the top of the bottom 1/3 fairly consistently so I mostly set goals for myself and try to beat them. I wanted to finish in less than 4 hours and finished in 3:42. This was 50 miles of getting my ass kicked. It was so rough I lost a water bottle somewhere and didnāt even realize it. Hereās 2 still from the worlds worst videos my parents took because theyāll start recording then think itās not me so they cut them off.

Knocked 3 seconds off my 50 fly today,I am at Indianapolis doing the US Masters Nationals. I did 500 free and 100 IM today, for me I did well. I got in at about quarter to one in the morning from Wisconsin, woke up at 7 AM and got there with 3 minutes left on the warm up. I managed to get in 100ish yards, then go for the 500. Way short. I've never done salt water before and it was warmer than I'm used to, quite a bit of adjustment. Sure as hell felt like a "fast" pool honestly. I can't explain it, and I don't know if it was in my head. I've heard of people talk about that before. I may have pulled back on the 500 because I was unfamiliar with the water, but I managed an 8:32 on it. I seeded in at 8:20, realistically said 8:30 and it was close enough for me considering the minimal stretching etc. I did and the unfamiliar water. Second event after a good bit of waiting was 100IM. I was nervous on times for that but man I was in the high 1:35s after being in the low 1:39s. Looking at the results I DQed, which is aggravating but I'm excited that the time was there. I'm curious what they got me for though.

Howdy sir. Doctor's orders, I'm not supposed to exercise any more than I need to. That includes bicycle rides. I was told this after I did the 24 mile ride on 6/24/2024. I took the advice for all of two days.
