Did a little walk this afternoon with the g/f. The sun disappearing and the wind kicking up kind of took away the motivation. Was 20-25 gusting to 40mph.

You’re going to run a marathon at an 9/min pace and then go biking after that.

Poor girl is going to be living in your running shadows.
Well she took first at conference in high jump and second in hurdles so not gonna be an issue :angrys00ls: . But in all serious anything under 400M she can already dust her old man :ROFLMAO:. Now when I have her doing sprint intervals with me at 100/200/300/400 distance I can kick her but. But thats only cause I have the endurance and some speed. ha

Welp decided to do some speed work . Plan was to do quarter mile repeats which I at least finished my goal. Overall suppose I can’t be disappointed. I can’t recall last time I tried a workout like this. Hitting 48 next week and have silly goal to try and run sub 6 mile šŸ˜. I need to drop them 10lbs i added that might help 😜

Workout
1 mile warm up
Stretching and activation drills.
10x400 meter with 90-120 second rest.
2 mile cool down .

So I did another 100k bike race yesterday. This time the Rough Road 100 in Morris, IL. Went a lot better than the one I did down by Carbondale. This one had 1700 feet of climbing versus the 4,700 feet that one did. Finished I think 224th out of 350 with 58 not finishing. Switched to Skratch high carb drink mix and had 100 grams of carbs and I think 400 calories in each of 3 26oz water bottles plus a GU gel flask with 5 gels in my back pocket. Goal was to stay on the bike the whole time, not pee and not have to hike a bike on any hills. I did that and was doing really well until the last 8 mile stretch that was on the I&M canal trail between Marseillaise and Morris. It was a bit soupy and muddy for my 35c slicks and I was starting to get a little gassed out. I’m happy with it overall for only doing this a year. I paced myself appropriately, had enough left to sprint the last segment to the finish and finished with an official time of 4:01:36 I think. I wanted sub 4:30 since the one in southern Illinois was 5:15 so I did that. Hit personal best times on every distance Strava measures also that was cool. Strategically I can’t do much different, just need some more strength and cardio ability.

So, yesterday I did a little over three miles of walking after work, since it was so nice out. I had this little spark of ambition to want to try jogging this season. The more I walked, the more I talked myself into it. On the way back I had to cross a busy four lane road, which required me to pick up the pace and jog across it. Halfway across I thought my shins were going to come up through my knees and into my skull. That pretty much killed any ambition of jogging.
