ECM brain picker

Converting an LT1 car to an LS1. I have a 98 ECM and engine harness. I've heard these ECMs don't handle a tune or are hard to tune. Also, I've been told I'd have to use a 98-02 gauge cluster, which means I'd have to switch dashes .. which I don't want to do. Thoughts? Any info is appreciated, thanks.

Dunno on the dash swap honestly, but in general the older stuff all ran on sensors built on to the engine while the newer stuff is driven off the sensors the ECM uses. In a way I prefer that just because it means if you have an off sensor (CTS failure) you can see it. Is the box an 0411? If not that's what I'd pick up. They grown on trees it seems, and they are also the box with the best aftermarket support.
