Lord Tin Foilhat Lord Tin Foilhat how are Nitecore batteries? I know you linked MTN above but Nitecore sells full flashlights and charging bricks and I'm not looking for a DIY thing. Just let me buy good batteries and good flashlight.

if you are just going for a package deal then its fine. (nitecore flashlight + nitecore battery) If buying batteries alone, get a good one.

If you want the best quality batteries, get one of the ones from MTN. MOST batteries are alright, but you get what you pay for when it comes to batteries.

Metal Nitecore flashlights are decent. I wouldn't tell someone it's junk, its a good budget flashlight brand that for most people, will be just fine and dandy with.

I wouldn’t play with cheap 18650s. I’ve really liked the Samsung 30Q’s that are 20amp and 3000mah. I’m looking now and it looks like they’re discontinued so I don’t know what I’d use next. I’ve had 10 of those 30Q’s and they’ve been great.

If I was looking for cheap 18650s I'd call around local PC shops and ask if they had any old laptop packs I Could have for free. Break em apart and boom 18650s for low or no cost.

Didn’t have any intentions to buy any lights today, but this caught my eye a few days ago. Found it direct from the manufacturer for $20 less than Amazon, but have to wait for China shipping. Sofirn Budget Light Forum LT1 lantern. 4 18650’s, USB C charging, 2700 or 5000K and runs on the same andruii firmware the Emisar lights do. Also doubles as a USB charging bank. Not sure what I’ll use it for but after not having power for a day and a half it seemed like a good buy.

The ones pictured above have Sanyo R1122 050B embossed on them. Found a quick Youtube video of someone charging the same 1122's and reviving them and they're ~1800mAH. Usable I guess? I see you guys talking about 3000-3500 so... lol

I have 55Wh, 60Wh, and I think a couple big boy 87Wh batteries available. Guess I'll be taking a few home and buying a charger.

ill have some! lol

Homemade battery packs? spares for flashlights? electric gokart/bike?. Get a GOOD charger/18650 tester and go to town. The biggest pain in the ass will be the tack welded strips on every one of them.

Other then that, if they test good....us em.

I had an old pack and I took it apart. After charging and using a few....like 3/5 were either dead or drained too fast to be usable...aka dead. But it was also like a decade old.

This is going to sound hack AF but I've just been tossing em on the charger and seeing what they do.
I mean, the only thing past that is to get a charger that does discharge/recharge tests too. That gives you some idea into life of the battery.

After that its real world testing.

Just picked up a Fenix PD36R and super impressed with how bright it is and how solid it feels for an $80 flashlight.

Rechargeable with a usb-c is what really sold me.

Just got these for all our techs. Pretty slick little light. Olight s1r baton 2. Rechargeable, magnetic base, two way clip. Was $65ish on Amazon. Lights up the room during the day. I’ve had brighter lights, but it puts out an amazing amount of light for its size. Advertised at 1000 lumens, realistically more like 300-400

I have a couple of those and actually prefer them to the S2R. If I’m going to carry something as big as the S2R I’d rather just have a full 18650 battery light. Those S1R’s are nice because they fit in the fifth pocket of jeans pretty easily.

Where did you pick it up for $80 from? I’m seeing $100 everywhere (with 1x battery).

So, I know there are some stellar lights talked about on here.. I've been a fan of the Anker Bolder series since they're relative cheap, decent quality, and are bright. I've never gotten their "big" one, 1300 lumens since it was bit too pricey for me, for what they are.

Amazon has them on special right now. $60 marked down to $35, which is the same price as their dual-battery LC90.

I have multiples of the P2, LC40, LC90, and LC90-2 and have been really satisfied with them.
