I was disappointed in fuel economy too. Much more BOOST than ECO. I get 19 mpg, which is about the same as my 3800SC. The Taurus is about 1000 pounds heavier than a W-body.

Washer pump is a common aliment. Cheap and easy fix. You can do it through the wheel well.

I also took sometime to swallow up what's going on in the engine bay. Blow off valves feed into intake which is what i thought. Intakes are shared, cac pipe is definitely in order. Trying to map out the PCV/CVC system to make sure its working.

Get a catch can to keep down the carbon deposit on the valves. You can also vent the bovs to atmosphere for sweet turbo noises.

Don't get a catch can yet. You can look at the intake valves thru the MAP sensor hole. If you don't have a borescope, you can buy a cheap one of amazon for $15. At 54k miles, my intake valves looked great.




Also, if you going to get a tune and a 3 bar MAP, then look into the MKS noise maker delete. I believe it comes with a 3 bar sensor (but confirm).

Finally got my noisemaker pipe upgraded, all this time I was wishing to cut it open and see it whats inside, I have not seen single video on youtube showing insides of it. All of you with the noisemaker still attached to the car, when I did my boost test, the seal that noisemaker pipe itself...

So I haven't really focused on what the big deal is with the carboning up with valves in DI motors... Maybe just its a new thing to alot of people, but I open up egr diesels all day and they are absolutely caked with it yet have no signs of performance issues
