I foolishly spilled an entire cup of water on my open laptop and it's dead. I just bought the damn thing in August of last year :picard:

All I do is tool around on YouTube and TCG, I don't do anything crazy with it, but I would definitely want it to be able to play without buffering and all that.

Either, what do you guys recommend or does anyone have something like that for sale? The only thing I hated about my last one is the speakers were weak sauce, most videos were hard to hear.

It's been about a week and I followed all of the things I could find online to save it. The power light comes on, which is just about the only change since I killed it, but all it does is come on for like 1-2min and then shuts off, nothing inside of the laptop powers on. I've been told that water in the laptop usually means RIP.

Chromebook? Not like you're asking for huge demands if you're just watching youtube and some light porn browsing. Get a pair of Bluetooth headphones because tinfoilhat is right, the speakers will suck. If it were me, I'd stay away from Dell or HP consumer grade products, but that's a personal preference based on my own experiences.

Some of those chromebooks are super cheap! Can all of them load YT fast enough to click and watch? I'm extremely impatient and I'm also extremely dumb about anything computer. I really need to just take some classes to understand them better.

^^^That's nice! I'll look more into that one for sure.

This one I thought was pretty nifty, IDK if I'm falling for the Kohl's price "reduction" where it's actually $399 and it's on sale from $600 though

EDIT: It would be cool if I could edit track videos as well, not sure if I'd need extra thinking power for that. I assume thinking power is ram?

You could get something cheap like this, add an SSD (solid state hard drive) to make it fly then add a blue tooth speaker. For around $425, you'd have a fast computer with good sound.

CPU and GPU for video editing.

RAM anything 8+ is plenty

4gb will work for basic stuff but doesn't go as far as it used to with Windows 7

First thing you should do with any OEM laptop that comes with Windows 10.

Reset Windows 10 with the "Fresh Start" feature to remove all of the crap that comes with it. HP and Lenovo are the worst when it comes to Pre-installed crap that just makes a low spec laptop chug with all of the services and programs that start as soon as you log in. Can get to it from the Defender Security Center. https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/software-download/windows10startfresh

Or download the Media Creator tool: https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/software-download/windows10

Use the tool to create a bootable Windows 10 USB drive, and nuke and re-install Windows outright without any of the crap left over by HP.

I would love to do this, but I am so damn computer illiterate that everything you've typed looks like a different language to me  My closest computer confidante is bikrboy Matt, I should see if he can do all of that for me. BUT, whadja think of the one I posted?
