You can use any of them, really. It's not like it needs to be a calibrated precision instrument for a sound room. I have AudioTools and it's got an SPL and works well enough.

i feel like this stuff would help more with engine noise than anything



main thing the dynamat/soundmat whatever is doing is stiffening the panel it's on to help reduce vibration/sound... i don't think it "absorbs" any sound. the panels you're talking about putting this stuff on are pretty thick/rigid, etc.

ya but no joke.. even with the 6.7 being quite its still straight piped and very strange to feel like a German car inside, even with the road noise being almost eliminated.. these posts motivate me to finish this 18 month old project and do the front

i do think you should put that metal backed shit as many places as you can but i think some foam stuff will help

Mass loaded vinyl is what’s supposed to kill actual noise (as KJ said). Foil backed kills vibration and some noise as far as I’ve noticed in my own vehicles. One day I’ll throw mlv in my vehicles but it’s HEAVY

I used SecondSkin on the Maroon GTP. Floor, sides, and firewall. It's a good product.

On top is Foil metal, 1mm thick
Under that is 1-2mm of a tar substance
Adhesive layer on bottom
