🔧 BUILD CMNT's thing is bigger than yours v. cubic inch displacement

General Information

So... I am finally doing a thing. It's a thing I've been talking about for awhile now. I had held off as working for Sears as I didn't want to spend money on a happy meal, much less any big purchases... Now that I am happilly employed elsewhere I figured it was now time to shit or get off the pot. Anyway, I have been looking for awhile and am currently in the process of buying it.

Ok, so what is it?

3/4 ton, 2003 Suburban LT 4x4, with the ole 496'er and 4.10 gears. It has the normal assortment of dings, a door dent, and normal wear and tear of a 17 y/o GM truck, but what sold it was that all this has less than 100k on the clock and the price was cheap. So I wasted no time getting the dealer on the phone and putting a deposit on it before anyone else could. The problem is... The dealer is out in Utah.

I do have some dealer pics I will post when I get on my other computer, But I am so excited to have another Vortec 8100.

Yea, sorry. :(

I'm going to add the original lighting to the pic above so you can see the before/after. Again, this is much, MUCH brighter than they were in reality. If they were this bright, I wouldn't have changed them. :p However, you can tell the coloring (kelvin) difference;

Plow mounts on.

I'm a little concerned. This frame up front sits about 2" lower than my 400. The whole concept of wanting a 2500 was to support the plow and have more ground clearance for the lower portions of the Ultra-mount setup. Being 2" lower from the get go, that ain't good. They also stick out a lot further than my 400. Wife remarked that she's gonna be the one to smash her shins on them. :D

I'm HOPING... I use that word to best describe it, that once I put the plow on, and lift it, that this suspension doesn't compress as much as my half ton did. So while it sits lower to begin with, just doesn't give as much. Otherwise, yes, I may look in to bigger jounce stops.

Also, I am going up one more tire size, so that'll give me a little extra free lift too.

need more info on the pontiac ;)

1966 Pontiac Catalina, 4 door sedan, 389 hi compression engine with 2bbl. Kinda low optioned as my great grandparents were frugal. They bought it new in 1967. It became my first car in 1986 and I've had it ever since. Came from Southern Indiana. Was bought a Volz Pontiac around that area (they were just outside the Cincinnati area).

So, before I did the LED cubes. I was not happy. The overall lumen output wasn't much more than the regular bulbs and it was really blue.

This is with the LED cubes;

Last night, I got around to doing another style LED. It is 100X brighter. Pics really don't do this justice as to how much brighter and crisper it is. I could even see the cluster in daylight. It just stands out now. There is some slight hotspotting, and while still blue'ish, it isn't the blue that the cubes were. I am MUCH happier;
