The Chevrolet Colorado ZR2 Will Be Your Favorite Off-Road Truck

It's been two years since Chevy first started teasing us with its mid-sized off-road pickup concept, but the wait for the real deal is finally over. The Colorado ZR2 comes with a much wider track, a lifted suspension and Multimatic Dynamic Suspensions Spool Valve dampers off a Camaro Z/28, functional rockers and modified bumpers for better clearance. You can spec it with a 3.6 V6 with 308 horsepower and 275 lb.-ft. of torque or a Duramax diesel offering 181 horsepower and 369 lb.-ft, both of which are mated to an 8-speed automatic. Used as a normal pickup, the ZR2 will tow up to 5,000 lbs. or carry 1,100 lbs. of payload.

this thing is fucking awesome.

so many tidbits that make it really unique and capable...

Beyond the obvious awesomeness of that hood scoop, seriously aggressive front bumper and desert-style bed-mounted full-sized spare the truck apparently has a 2-inch lift over a standard Colorado (and definitely a wider track,) front and rear electronic locking differentials, skid plates and 31-inch tires.

The driveline will have nine different conditions it can be set to:

2WD
2WD, locked rear differential
Auto 4WD
Auto 4WD, locked rear differential
4WD Hi, locked transfer case
4WD Hi, locked transfer case and locked rear differential
4WD Lo, locked transfer case
4WD Lo, locked transfer case and locked rear differential
4WD Lo, locked transfer case, locked front and rear differentials
...depending on what you’re trying to drive over. The electronic lockers are supposed to work seamlessly with the truck’s traction control system which also features an “Off-Road Mode” that “alters the throttle progression and shifts calibrations to give the driver better control and responsiveness” according to Chevrolet.

not to mention center as well.

seriously, im unsure what other trucks have that option except wrangler.

raptor's front is a limiited slip- at least the older ones are afaik.

tacoma off road package maybe?

some high end toyota offroad 100k beast of a truck maybe too. who knows.

The Land Rovers and Range Rovers probably do too, and yeah probably the Toyota Land Cruiser and Lexus equivalent.

Yeah, they are insanely expensive...the mid-90's version with the straight 6 built by the Toyota heavy machinery division would be my go to...so fucking awesome...plus those motors reportedly last for like 300K+ miles

yeah i wanted one of those last fall but couldn't pull the trigger on the one i got close to

1st Gen Raptors only have rear lockers, open front diffs. 2nd Gens will have an optional Torsen front diff.
