Took a weekend trip to Mammoth cave in Kentucky this weekend, even today (Monday) it was sold out. If you plan on seeing the really good stuff you need to book a few weeks in advance (which we didn’t). Was still not disappointed though.

If you go, bring a UV light with you. Wish I would have remembered mine!

I dropped a few pics in another thread, but to also mention here…

My phone makes it look like normal room lighting, it is not. It’s dim as phuck, and hard to see shit.

So if you have flashed yourself welding as much as I have, you’re going to have a hard time seeing…as you are not allowed to use flashlights in some places. It’s very disorienting. The best way to describe it is like having movie theater legs while you’re in there.

Caves in general are amazing to me, and the amount of time for nature to make them is simply unfathomable.

Mammoth Cave is really cool and worth visiting just because of it's size. I'd still like to do one of their more extreme tours some day. If you like caves and taking pictures of them, I'd check out Jewel Cave in South Dakota and Meramec Caverns in Missouri. They have a lot more of the pretty crystal-like structures.
