I keep going back and forth on that as well but thats also what Apex recommended and I know it's been done. Plus I'm going w/ pilot sport 4s tires and those tend to have a seemingly wider profile than most tires

I have heard that also. I know on tire rack you can compare the tread width as measured. Luckily I’m not doing shit else so I compared them to the ventus evo 2’s I had both in 225/40/18. I’d get the 235’s

Hm. You make a compelling argument. Here they are on a 225/40 pilot sport A/S3

Definitely some stretch. You’re within the rim width of 7.5-9” just on the higher end of the range. 235 is recommended for 8-9.5. When you go to the 235’s the widths get weird. The pilot sport 4s section width is .1” wider than my 235’s, but the tread width is .2” smaller.

Don't worry IDAFC21 IDAFC21 michelins seem to be all over the fucking board with their tire size variations at certain sizes. Like Pilot sport all seasons are the normal height for most sizes for my car, but in 245/40/18 they suddenly just become .2" taller than all otehr tires... then back to normal the next size up. Same goes for section width as posted, it makes zero sense

FWIW, I don't think I've seen a bad review, just high praise on the PS4S

Yeah it really just depends on what the car can accommodate. This is specifically from their fitment guide for the 2-series

Only Profile 1 faces are available for the F22 2-Series due to the high offset requirements.

So who am I to argue? I'd rather have it fit right and be usable daily than to look cool for photo shoots. I'm not living that insta life.

Also fuck it. I'll probably go w/ the 235s up front and see what that does. If it rubs anywhere, i'll just have them unmounted and I'll have a fresh spare set for the GTO since that's the exact size I run up front on that car (and currently PS4S as well, so I know they'll work)

Why wouldn’t it be? The wider the wheel sometimes makes it harder to get more concavity because you’ll actually push the rim too far outside.
Huh? Width is only one component, its not like the wheel width only pushes it outward. The more concave wheels are usually wider with more inside barrel to work with, usually with a lower offset.

You just explained exactly why it makes it more difficult. Wider wheel + lower offset means what? It means it will be pushed out more.
At the end of the day it really depends on the car and how the wheel hub is setup more than anything.

Probably needed to keep from pushing the wheels out too much!
Pretty sure this car is more of the exception to the rule, that offset is putting the hub like flush with the outside of the wheel, thats wild. My buddy Adam also with a m235 was trying to explain to me how weird the wheel specs have to be on this car, but the M2 with the fender flares its more "normal"

Many/most cars (especially sports) have enough room to allow for a wider wheel, plus lower offset and still be relatively flush. My point was, in comparing wheels within their own sizing, the wider wheels are where the concavity will be found, not more narrow option.

I mean cmon, they have to have a special disclaimer specifically for the F22...

I’m not so sure this is the exception. The fact is, stock hub placement doesn’t allow for much concavity. My stock r8 wheels are 11inches wide with 50et and flat as can be. I’m actually going with a narrower wheel, and lower offset to allow for more concave on the rear and am still going to push out another half inch over stock.

I mean most Japanese cars don't require almost +60 to fit a 9.5 inch wheel. I run concave 18x10.5 SSR Type C's on my Z with 285/35/18 rear tires (295 rubbed too much, and I will be throwing sticky 275 200TW tires this spring since they tend to run wider than most 300 tw tires) and they are only +42 which in the JDM wheel game would be considered a "weak" offset vs the more trendy +15 to +35 with crazy amounts of camber.

You can't really have that nice concave look without pushing the wheel out further than you seem comfortable with on these BMW given how far the hub is pushed out on them stock. To have that you would have to have the wheel pushed out almost another 3/4 of an inch.

I just googled examples quick and looks like you can get the concave look by going 20x12 and still be flush, so its not like it isn't possible despite your factory specs vs the OP
