I really hate to be this guy, but could we have a sticky cam thread? Maybe opinions and results with cams, engine and vehicle platforms? I'm thinking one stop shop for what you did, how it felt and what you'd do different. I know most folks just roll with the SS2 (myself included) but it'd be real cool to see what else works and how well.

Opinions on the matter?

308 SBF with Edelbrock Performer RPM heads, Performer RPM intake, 11.7:1 compression ratio, and 100 shot of nitrous, 4200 RPM stall, 3.70 gear, and 26" tires.

I used an Anderson N61 with 1.6:1 rockers.
228/236 duration at 0.050, .544/.568 lift, 110 LSA

it made 330 rwhp n/a and picked up almost exactly 100 horsepower on nitrous. Ran consistent 10.7x @ 124-125 MPH

2008 Sierra Crew Cab 5.3
TSP Stage 2 truck cam, 212/218 .550/.550 112 LSA
stock converter
3.73 2wd pickup.
CR calculated at 10.3 after I milled the 243's .020.
I used stock pushrods and LS7 lifters.

Long and short- cam helped a good bit, but if I had to do it over again I'd have gone the .600 lift route. Truck pulls hills better, tows better, and noticeable seat of the pants difference at the top end. No dyno numbers.

1993 Yukon Gen 3 5.3 swap
SS2 228/230 .585/.585 112 LSA
Stock converter 4l60e
3.42 4wd
Stock 862's with Howards 98113 springs
Stock lifters and pushrods

Long and short- Big ole heavy summa bitch takes a bit to get rolling because stock converter. Turns on like a switch at 4000 RPM and pulls like a champ all the way to 6400, which I could probably take higher as it still feels like it's pulling. Asking the trans to make a shift is the hard part. 3k RPM converter on the way, we'll see how much that helps.

Reference on the turns on like a switch, you can hear it just proceed to make power at about 4k.

07 Sierra 5.3/4l60/4.10 rear
Btr stg4 cam,224/230 .550 lift
Nnbs intake, longtubes, 3200 stall
Made 330whp on 87 octane. Probably 350-360 on ethanol 17mpg average
8.8 in the 1/8th on street tires (spinning)
Lots of fun for a daily truck, I’d reccomend a 2,800 converter and stage 3 cam if your going to tow as much as I did. I pulled multiple 6-7,000lb trailers.
