I purchased a vehicle out of state. Paid off the remainder of the seller's lein on the car as part of the sale. I'm guessing it takes a week or two for the bank to send the title to him.

I can't register the car here without a title. I technically have 20 days to register the car once I take possession. He is leaving his plates on the car for now, so I could probably drive it around "safely" for now.

Anyone in this situation before?

I drove my G8 around for about a month with my GTP plate on it. Just was careful and didn't go thru any tolls.

You'll be fine with the old plate on there and the bill of sale on hand.

Agree. I did this with the Caddy years ago, and then with the Wife's van this past summer.

Usually banks can send the title to the buyer at sellers request as you paid the balance. Or it takes a few days for the bank to release the title then overnighted to the owner and he can overnight to you
