Would try at least once.

Burger King is going to the dogs — hot dogs, that is.

The burger chain announced on Wednesday that it was adding grilled hot dogs to its menu, looking to use the kitchen equipment it already has — its hamburgers are flame-broiled — and offer more variety on its menu.

“Instead of boiling a hot dog in water, we can grill it just like you would at a backyard barbecue,” said Alex Macedo, president of the company’s North America division. “It made all the sense in the world for us.”

Burger King, the No. 2 burger chain behind McDonald’s, has most of the ingredients needed to dress its dogs, made from a proprietary recipe using 100 percent beef, already at hand in its stores. Mr. Macedo said about the only new ingredients were buns and relish.

“We also have to chop the onions a little differently,” he said.

what Chicago area native would pick Burger King over portillos, superdawg, gene and judes, hot dougs, and EVERY other authentic hotdog joint :bowrofl:. Sure it might do better in other regions but good luck here.

They should start offering deep dish pizza now too.

They actually may not be to bad.. Will try...

Burger King partnered with Oscar Mayer to create a proprietary 100% beef hot dog, which Macedo says will stand apart from most options consumers have because it is "flame grilled" in the restaurant instead of boiled or put on a "roller," the cooking method often seen in convenience stores. The classic hot dog will sell for $1.99 and the chili cheese dog for $2.29.

Actually had these today.. They are not bad will eat again.. They had a nice grill on them, tasted fresh. I had ordered without ketchup and relish but they put ketchup on it no biggie thou.

I didn't like the ketchup they are using is very sweet tasting, kind of over powering imo. However the mustard and onions were spot on.. Bun was nice and soft. Can't wait to try the chili one.

Have not had, but I've gotta think that Sonic chicago dog w/ everything on it > BK dog with ketchup and onions. Not enticed.
