Kind of cool to see a 1948 Woodsman sitting next to a freshly cleaned, never fired Back Mark Contour 7.25 URX. Both are chambered in .22. I feel an odd connection to my great grandfather's target shooting history having purchased this new Buck Mark and comparing the two side by side.

Here's to hoping that it serves me well in the American Marksman qualifier!

Will be headed to the range today to test fire both of these lil guys.

Yeah, you don't want to use up your "guest" visits, they like to limit individual guest appearances to 4/ year. Going to class doesn't count against that #.

The older gun was probably made better. Have you ever shot it?

I have a couple of times and did today as well.

Today I practiced running through the qualifying strings for the American Marksman qualifier - I'm at least a full second faster and more accurate as well with the newer gun (due to the optics it has).

Private membership range. It's very close to my house and pretty damn awesome if I don't say so myself. :hsugh:

I used to feel the same way... but after shooting with Trijicon RMR's on my Glocks, its pretty damn amazing. They allow you to keep focus on your target, not the front sight and really help speed up target acquisition. This reflex sight on the Browning isn't quite the same quality as the RMR's (but its also a 10th the cost) but its still way better than irons!

Notice how the gun and the sight itself are out of focus but the wall and the red dot are in focus? That's why they're awesome.
