Well just a quick lil update. I ended up ordering a chromolly cage kit on Friday. I went back and forth on what to do, prebent, build, or have one done. With material prices where they are it was kind of a no brainer. The prebent kit was less than half of my cost for material (through work even), and that was with shipping. Fingers crossed its not a total pile of shit, but I know I have some wiggle in the fitment so it should be OK.

Sunday I swapped the SC and the Supra back. I had the Supra over by a neighbor just cause I have no room.

Got the SC warmed up

And then let the neighbor drive it over to his house.

Then the wife and I spent all day working on cleaning up the garage. It still needs a lot, but its much better than it was.

I want to get the Supra done so I can get some other projects going, so that is next on the list. I need to work on figuring out my exact plans for the SC, but I know the basics already. I know I want to get the boost conrtoller done, trans brake, exhaust and a few other things. I need to make a list of parts to buy so I can start getting them knocked out too.

Well thats all for now. You should probably start seeing more Supra content soon :)

In my experience, UPS is far worse at the "label has been created" than fed ex. Tho fed ex did just recently send one of my customers packages from Phoenix......where they are located.......to like fucking Kansas or some place, for no reason at all. I'm still waiting for that one to make its way back to Phoenix after its detour.

Yeah, they all suck lately. I have had horrible luck with FedEx lately, but the last package is on its way now! Says it should be here tomorrow.

Are you short a bar?

Yes, I am missing a few. For sure I am missing the rear down bars (or door bars), kickers, harness bar, and probably a dash bar. Its not required, but I think the kit comes with one. It should also come with the floor plates. So we will see what shows up tomorrow :)

You thinking of hitting the track one more time or are you done for the year?

I wasn't, but maybe.....

The last of the cage came in yesterday!

Less than 1 week to get it to my door. Not bad at all! I really want to start installing it, but I want to finish the Supra so the next project can come in :D

Quick little update time.

First up a shot of the cage all laid out

Pretty happy with the cage overall! A little slag at the cuts, but nothing too terrible.

I powdercoated some parts at work last week.

Ignore the finger prints, but that is a center console trim piece and two radiator cooling plates.

And last up, I fixed the busted wastegate the other day.

I got it squeezed back together

As usual, ignore the messy bench. It has a lot of parts for both cars all over it. But all clampled up and back purging.
i-Dx4Jj4R-X4.jpg

I welded over everything with 308 filler. I think first time I used 309 rod which I hear may have been part of my issue.

There is a chance I will cut this off and redo it still, but I wanted it fixed just in case. I took it out Saturday and it was making a solid 13lbs the couple time I was able to glance down at the screen. It was a little tail happy on the radials when its 40 degrees :)

I have ordered up some parts for the car but I will update that when I get them installed. I have also started looking at what events and stuff I wanted to do with the car next year. I really need to be a lot faster to do most of the things I want to do, but in order for that to happen I need a lot more parts (suspension, wheels, tires, etc.). So we will see what I end up doing. I am sure I will drive it a LOT more, and run it a LOT more next year though. The main goal is still at least Drag Week, if not one or two more drag and drive events. I just really also want to drive to a track, race (and go rounds) and then drive it home. That may end up having to be the following year though.

Anyway, I am ramblin so time for bed!

Stock piling more parts for the car, if I ever get any time to work on it again. Today the good stuff came in!!!

OH YEAH, Car stero stuff for the "race car" :D

Its nothing crazy, but should be pretty nice. If you didnt already know I have a Pioneer AVH-4200NEX headunit in the car
IMG_20170529_183249-X2.jpg

I also bought speaker adapters for the doors forever ago. The stock speakers in this car are a weird 4" deal with a big backer box. When I got the headunit I also got almost all of the ancilary stuff including front and rear cameras. Because I had the factory Nakamichi system, wiring the headunit was/is a pain in the ass. When it was still the stock motor it turned on and everything, but its never actually played anything through speakers. Now that I did the LS wherever I was getting power from is apparently not happy, or maybe its just off. Who knows, the point is I will be rewiring a solid constant, and ACC power to it and the screen above it. The main point is that I was always planning on putting a system in the car, and have been trying to get good stuff for it to boot.

The current plan is to run front door speakers off of the headunit. I went with 6.5" Infinity Kappa 63XF's which have a pretty high sensitvity and are 3ohm which should translate into speakers that can play pretty loud off the headunit.

The next part of this equasion is bass. I have had a 10" Infinity reference 1062W sub for a while. I don't remeber why I have it, I bought it and have never taken it out of the box LOL. I also have a box I made for something else that I believe will work. For some reason I rememer it being damn near perfect with the correct port, but I will model it to be sure. I may end up building a new box anyway just depends on how I layout the trunk. To power that sub is the Alpine MRV-M500 mono amp. I have actually owned at least two of these before and had them in diffent cars with differnt subs. Its always been a great little amp that has plenty of power for a single sub and its easy to mount in a lot of places. I should dig up some pics of my old Cobalt that had this same amp, and I think the same Infinity sub in a sealed fiberglass box that I never fully finished. That set up hit way harder than it should have, everyone thought it was at least a ported 12" :)

Anyway, pics of the amp

20220204_202426-X4.jpg

Not much to show on a small mono amp :) I also got the Alpine control knob to be able to adjust the amp for different music or situations.

Since I know someone will ask, the plan is to make the box and the amp a combined setup that will unplug and easily come out of the car. I got a few disconnects for the power wiring. It will alow me to unplug the whole deal without having a live wire flopping around, and I can then plug the charger into the remaining side to charge the battery too. Who knows, maybe I will 3D print a holder for the plug when the box is out and I am making a pass.

Well thats enough rambling about a really basic stereo. I am a bit excited for it if you cant tell. Just happy to be getting another piece of the puzzle :)

Well with this first hit of nice weather I couldn't resist taking the car to work, so I did :)

She was a little cold this morning when I left

i-hVbxKNp-X2.jpg

Of course, she fired right up and ran like a top! I am super impressed with the tune up in this car. Anyway, I hopped on 90 and cruised 70-80 the whole way to work with 0 issues. When I was at work I had a handful of people ask me about the car. I have driven it in a few times, but I guess word travled this time? So at lunch I took out the resident car guys. The one guy is younger, drives a WRX, and was actually in it last year. He was pretty pumped, was taking video the whole time and had a big smile on his face. The other guy is newer, and is older. He drives a modded jeep and a boxer, asked a few times who did all the work LOL. Anyway I was like you wanna go for a ride and he said yeah so I brought him to Jesus LOL. I gave it a bit at first, like 30% just into boost and he was like damn this thing moves!! Then we turned down a nice road and without warning I got on it and it just spun through first and second. That got a lot more reaction, he was pretty shocked. We drove around a bit and before getting back I hit it with all the beans, and it dead hooked. That was the come to Jesus moment where he grabbed for anything and everything and was looking for a brake pedal before I even hit second. I made sure to stay in it into 3rd just to assert my dominace :D I guess its just a bit faster than his boxer, who knew. When we got back he was going around telling everyone.

Once work was over, I got in and hit the highway to head home. I had a guy hanging out of a truck taking a video (while driving) on 90 LOL. I ended up getting off 90 and taking some back roads just to be a little easier on the ole girl. I have a new rearend for the car, but the one thats in there makes it turn a LOT of RPM when I am cruising. As it sits now, the car loves to cruise around 55-60 and is perfecty at home on back roads.

i-vz6j74m-X2.jpg

So all in all it was about 100 miles today. Made some people smile, made some people question thier life choices, and the car took the abuse perfectly. She does need some TLC, and it'll get it soon. As II have said I have some parts around for it, I need to do maintenance, and overall get it ready for the track rental on May 6th :D

So cool Sean. Good coolant temps I take it?
Thanks! Temps were good. I want to probably add in some ducting when I get the front end back on. That is something I want to dial in as good as possible before DW. I also have the big boy fan to put in as well.

Most excellent! That has to be a great feeling taking those guys on a rip.
Oh yeah, its a blast! I wish I had a camera in the car for the one guy. He came in today was like I went home and changed my underwear LOL

Glad to see that you got some miles on her. That's fuckin awesome. I just wanna get my shit going and do that.
Thanks!! Its pretty great! The only negative is that I want to take it apart to do a bunch of stuff, but then I dont want to take it apart cause I want to just drive it all the time. You need to get your car done! What do you have left on it?
