I finally completed the kitchen furniture. Overall I’m happy with how it came out, though I will likely re-do the chairs at some point as they’re not all that comfortable.

Lessons learned:
* Building furniture is way harder than it sounds
* It costs more than you think and takes wayyy longer than it should.
* @greasy is aweosme.
* I won’t willingly volunteer to do anything like this for the wife again. Just because I can do something doesn’t meant I should!

looks AMAZING!

How did you do the seat material (wood conclaves)
Thanks!

I kind of cheated with those. I found a wood shop right by my house and they have a shop that would make Ron Swanson cream his pants. They have a CNC machine and they made the seats to my specs. Way better end result than I could get with my basic tools.

I have a few different master carpenters that rent space in the same whse as me. Some of the shit they make is fucking insane. The money they get for this stuff is fucking silly.

You’re not wrong. Especially when you’re using a good wood like walnut in my case. This build cost me a lot of money, but I still saved a couple grand than if I were to have this stuff built for me.

Did some rearranging of the laundry area. This is the before…

And after..

More work than it looks. I had to move the washer, dryer, and slop sink down about 12” so all new plumbing for the sink and I had to move an outlet for the fridge.

Much cleaner and better. Someday I may put in a better dryer vent but bahh.

Probably put down some kind of flooring next. Probably a commercial type glue down tile.

Got some VCT tile from the FIL for free. Glued it down and put down some polish. Good enough for a laundry room.

Now to move the upright freezer and finish it under that. This weekend will be framing out an area to finish off an old small bathroom down there.

Had two small closets in the bedroom that came out way too far into the room, and had a wall that they build sideways to try to make the rooms bigger that Ive been wanting to fix for awhile because the water line for the spigot was on the outside of the wall so it's not like you saved any room there with the pipe outside the wall anyway so I turned it the right way so I can run the pipe inside the wall....

Going to use two tall wardrobes in place of the closets that were cutting off so much of the room. Will end up with more storage space and the room will also be larger without the walls in the way.

Also took a few inches from the bathroom closet to make room for the wardrobes....

PVA Primer the fresh drywall tonight, repaint the ceiling on Friday, then paint the room Saturday, then likely re-pour self leveling compound in preparation for the LVP flooring next week.

Soo yeah.. I don’t think This is anywhere near legal now days. Lol. I’ve been using this toilet with a sheet draped across the room. Wife just wants it to be a somewhat legit down and dirty 2nd bath on the cheap. So I half ass framed the 70 yo bathroom back to serviceable condition. I reused an old door. Rebuilt the old sink, toilet was in the other bathroom upstairs and was pieced together from 3 other toilets by the previous owners. Cinder block walls will stay just as they are too. Just have to redo some electrical, finish up plumbing. Then some more free VCT tile floor from the FIL and toss up a few sheets of drywall. That’s life as a poor. ?

Also this project. Wife wanted a china cabinet statement piece for the dining room. She had been looking at these $1000-$5000 antique pieces. Then We found this for $100 and got it for $75. I Repainted it with some leftover appliance white paint and she put in some new fabric on the back panels. Done.

Did you do all the mud work or farm it out?

This fucking piece of shit has been leaking for weeks. It is from a whirlpool tub and is Moen pn 1248. I had 1224 and it didn't fit. This did the job, I had to drill and slide hammer the old one out. I also had to make home made removal tools, an odd use for a chunk of old 12ga barrel. The store bought one didn't work.

Sadly after the tools, bullshit and wrong cores it was still probably cheaper as a diy

I have some new but slightly dirty 1224 cores if someone wants em for postage.
