Anyone moved a boat before? I've got to start investigating transport from Fox Lake to Lake Michigan for next year. I do not have a trailer or access to one large enough to move my boat myself.

my instinct is saying $400-600

last year i got one quote...

We could transport your 27ft Wellcraft on our air-ride gooseneck hydraulic transport trailer with $100K Cargo insurance and oversize permit for $768.00 on your schedule as a dedicated move. This is figuring a ramp load and a yard offload (proper blocks and stands at delivery site). We could do this for $550.00 after noon on either October 20th or 21st as we will be in the area. Please let me know of any questions and send us your contact information. I look forward to hearing back from you and hope we can be of service.

You can find cheaper than that. I paid $600 to have our sailboat moved from appleton, wi to lake geneva. $250 of that was securing it to a flatbed trailer on the cradle. With your boat they could just use a regular trailer and its less miles. I think you should pay $350-400.

you or i on a trailer could probably move it somewhere and not get messed with, but a legit mover, with insurance, probably wouldn't take that risk im guessing? i dunno.

Sounds like a scam, that boat shouldnt need oversize permits.

I believe you do based on the size of the boat.

"Basically anything that is over 102″ or 8′ 6″ wide and/or over 13′ 6″ in height is required to obtain a permit in ANY state in order to be legally transported."

9'6" width.

I'd play dumb and move it myself with no permit but I don't have that luxury

tell dude $300 cash and we can lay this bitch on her side on a flatbed. ignore the leaky stuff coming out of the boat.
Hell you can prob use my sailiboat's cradle and throw it on a flatbed now that I think about it. We'd just have to get it back to geneva and itd have to be in the next 2 weeks before i take the boat out.
