ive seen now some dealers even have 12 seaters where it's multiple benches in conversion vans, kinda like the passenger vans but comfy appearing.

So you're saying a 2500 version of one of these could tow the same as say an F250, or am I wrong in thinking that the 2500 van could tow that much? Like could one of these pull a toy hauler with a SxS or would there be no chance of that happening?

yes a gas 6.0 2500/3500 conversion van could tow a toyhauler.

depends on the f250.. and the van.

gcwr and gvwr really will come into play here. the vans are weird... because it really seems like all of the vans whether 2500 or 3500 are rated at 10k lbs towing.

butttttt it's not going to work like that... because after the conversion/upfit, these vans have to weigh 7k+lbs at minimum if not nearly 8k? mine's a 1500 and weighs 6700lbs or whatever it was?

so gcwr for most of these things seems to be 16k lbs if i remember correctly. which if you do 16,000 - van weight of let's say 7500lbs = 8500lbs remaining for tow weight.

the thing that the vans do have going for them versus let's say my pickup truck, is their payload capacity's are more conducive for more hitch weight. the 2500/3500 vans seem to have payload capacity's of 3-4,000lbs which is nuts. as my pickup is 1700lbs? i mean, a lot of 3/4 ton trucks aren't even 3000lbs.

Realistically with the back of that van folding down into a bed anyway, I guess you could just tow the SxS on a normal trailer and sleep in the van as well....

so here:

two extenzo vans, one 3500 one 2500.

same gcwr, same max trailering rating, but different payloads and super similar curb weights.

leaves me to believe the 2500/3500 vans are nearly identical...

buttttt the conversions have to add 1800lbs at least? right? I dunno.

that GCWR number will get hit quick.

the payload numbers are fucking AWESOME. a lot of f250's/f350's won't have payload ratings of that much.... buuuuuuuuut they'll have much higher gcwr's.

shit, even my half ton pickup truck's GCWR is higher than this, at 17,300lbs... BUT. my truck's payload capacity is only 1700lbs. so if you get my truck at 5600lbs with 4 people weighing 800lbs total...

payload is down to 900lbs. which a LOT of toyhauler's big enough to cram a decent sized sxs inside of, will have tongue/hitch weights, of 1000lbs +, empty.

That makes sense. I've never been into towing so I'm still trying to get all the numbers down, but that makes sense.

it's a lot to take in

because also, a lot of people NEVER consider any of this shit I GOT A BIG TRUCK IM GOOD

and then what even fewer people consider... a lot of trailering guides have max frontal area ratings. which i 1000% don't fully understand if the tow vehicle subtracts from or adds to or how it works.

this is from the ford super duty chassis cab towing selector

so here, here's two different toy haulers:

my sxs could fit in either, as long as it makes it through the door which is what i'd have to check.

past that. the 26th is well within the capacity of a 2500/3500 express van.

now, the 250 is going to be at within the capacity, right at, or over, depending how it's loaded/setup.

but 6700lbs dry, + 2200lb sxs = 8,900lbs before any gear/water/fluids/etc. so hopefully the van with whatever i have in it, weighs less than 7100lbs to stay within the van's 16,000 GCWR

if i get a newer van, im reallllllllly torn on if i should get a high top or not.

the added space is fucking SWEET in the back.

buuuuuuuuutttt, it doesn't fit through a "normal" garage door, or an automatic/whatever carwash. come winter, being able to cruise through a touchless auto wash is fucking sweet when it's 30* outside.

and, in the back of my mind, is the safety concerns with the hightop vs not....

I like that one......

I was looking at the Desert Fox ones over the weekend, but I think the middle sized one is a bit too long at 30' to store on the side of the house.....

They have a much shorter one too but it loses the bedroom up front:

The 25' length though is nice.

If im being honest, I started looking at ATC ones until I saw the pricetag... :bowrofl:
