Lot #1299.1 - Time has stood still with this 37-actual-mile survivor 1979 Pontiac Firebird Trans Am. Sold new at Caldwell-Knap Pontiac in Jackson, MI, it remained in Michigan until recently. The car is powered by the original L80 6.6-liter 403ci V8 engine backed by an automatic transmission. It is equipped with air conditioning, power steering and brakes, cruise, power locks, limited-slip rear axle, optional hood decal and 15x7-inch snowflake wheels still wrapped in the original tires. The manufacturer's Window Sticker and mileage statement is still on the passenger's-side window and dealer inventory tags remain from 1979. That distinctive new-car smell is still present. Loaded with options, this car is finished in the standout color of Starlight Black and has the popular Carmine Red interior.

37 miles, ok. Even if true it’s the turd Oldsmobile 6.6! :bowrofl: Known for an exceptionally large bore vs stroke and…? not much else. I say this as a guy that liked big block Pontiacs for a while.

I remember a guy in high school in North Pole, Alaska that had one of these. Looked just like this one:

Took us up to 140 on the Richardson pretty good back in ‘96.

Yeah the olds 403 leaves something to be desired for sure. I would probably get a set of early 70s heads and toss em on, then a cam. (after the exhaust/intake stuff of course.) Then again the real trick with an Olds is to get a 350 Diesel then bore the fuck out of it and toss in a 425 crank. That's an exercise in cubic dollars and finding obscure parts these days I'd think.
