🔧 BUILD AWD tube chassis 5.3 LS offroad Beetle - Frankie Biscayne | Mad Scientist

Hi I am converting my AWD Nova I posted on here previously to a 68 Beetle body. The wheelbase difference was 15" so I split it in half and shortened the Nova tube chassis about 7" so the Beetle will be 8" longer wheelbase. The drivetrain is the same as before its an all aluminum 5.3, Holley Max efi, Edelbrock 2650 with no intercooler, th350 and Astro transfer case.

Thanks for the replies, Ive always found this site most accepting of oddball shit.

I finally finished all the chassis/cage welding, got the shortened chassis rails strengthened up, body mounts done. Its going to be street legal, hoping it will be pretty reliable, its allll factory stuff cobbled together so should be able to be reliable. The main question I have is the transfer case acting nicely, but it should, its factory.

A few pics from strengthening the frame shortening, ugly but should take care of strength
