I remember seeing one at O'Hare airport in the 1980's. Such a cool sight seeing the air inlets embedded into the wings.

Isn't that the one that originally had square windows that cracked and caused a crash? Then they switched to the rounded edge windows

You are correct. If I recall, there were a few crashes due to the fuselage cracking in the corners of those square windows. And then soon after wards is when Boeing stepped in with the 707 that changed air travel forever. Cheap reliable air service for all to enjoy.

Can someone explain the differences between the F-22 and F-35? I thought they were competing platforms, didn't know we were using both...

The F-35 is supposed to be the smaller, cheaper stealth fighter. It has multiple variants (standard, VTOL, carrier) and is seen as a replacement F-18, Harrier, and a few other airframes. Whereas the F-22 is more pure air superiority to replace the F-15/F-16
