So I took advantage of the EOTech RMA process for a refund, I was already looking at potentially going Aimpoint to save on the weight and be slightly more accurate out to 100 or so yards.

Any recommendations on an Aimpoint model or other options? I want to stick to a single device and light weight (aren't they all I guess).

Aimpoint all the way. Best red dots on the market. I have like 4 of them.

T1 micro is awesome. Small, light weight, works with night vision.

I also have a barley used Aimpoint PRO I may be willing to part with if interested. Complete packaging included.

When it comes to quality firearm accessories buy once cry once. Nice thing is most stuff will hold its value quite well. Aimpoints are not cheap, but they are the best you can buy.

Vortex just came out with a T1 replica, for 1/3 of the price, they have great reviews on their Sparc red dot so im sure this one will be solid as well

Not a fan of aimpoint, i had plenty of them break in the service

i got my aimpoint m4 on ebay, i stole the winning bid with 1 second left for $347 shipped. it looks kind of rough but it works perfectly and glass is still mint condition. just do your homework on how to determine if it is genuine to make sure you are getting a legitimate one and not a knockoff.

I have a Vortex Sparc as well and it's a good piece for the money. Probably can't compare to an Aimpoint though.

That's essentially the setup I want... Red dot with a flip-out magnifier.

Red dot with magnifier is an awesome setup.

This is by far my favorite rifle/combo

Scar 17s
Aimpoint T1 Micro
Primary Arms 3x long eye relief magnifier
American Defense mounts for both.

i found the flip magnifier to be to bulky for me so i ditched my setup and went with a 1-4, then ditched that for the compM4

Lol this guy. I vouch for the Aimpoint micros, too. I have to count them, but I may have 9 or 12 of them.

Don't discount the Trijicon MRO, either.

Can you elaborate on the Aimpoint's breaking?

Mainly sighting in issues, ie the adjustment dials wouldnt move the dot at all, i had one that wouldnt even click and just spun freely, than the actual tube mount wouldnt lock down the sight itself.

Now granted the sights were used over and over and had been through the ringer, and is no fault of aimpoint, this was back in 04, i dont even think they were on the commercial market yet, it just left a bad taste for me though

But dont get me wrong id like a T1/H1 i just cant justify spending 600+ when there are onez out there for half the price thatll do just as much/well

I appreciate you taking the time to post some REAL world experience.

Doesn't surprise me, they were new tech back then.

The ability to leave them on without the battery dying was a huge selling point for me.

If money wasn't an object, i'd ditch the red dots and pick up a Trijicon ACOG. I don't feel like spending over a thousand dollars on a scope though.

Meh, ACOGs are great if you're just shooting XM133 OR 855. Otherwise, the hold overs don't work. Get a MIL/MIL 1-4 instead.

I loved my ACOG on the M16/4 while I was in. I'm thinking about getting one for the 716 I now own. :io:
