I used to be really into them. I worked at Pat's Hobbies in Oak Lawn in high school.

I have a Associated 4wd buggy now(B4 I believe) that I haven't run yet, but it's a pretty nice setup. I bought it off a guy who raced, so it came with spares of everything, multiple motors and ESCs, etc.

I'd recommend an HPI Savage to anyone wanting a basher. They're bullet-proof.

I still haven't run this buggy yet. Great investment on my part.

Wondering if anyone body ever had a car from red cat racing? I am just looking to toy around the house with it and be able to fix it when kids break it
They aren't bad. They are an off-brand, but they do make some good cars.

If you want local parts availability Traxxas is the only way to go at this point. Alternates are Losi, Team Associated. OFNA used to be one, but they are pretty much dead.

Got antsy and bought this. Will report back on this $94 knock-off hobby truck. Curious how it will stack up against the Jato and Rustlers I’ve had. I could have bought another 1/24 Losi SCT, but found that limited use, though well-built for its size and a little rocket with lipo.

Well, here it is. $100 Amazon truck  I think the packaging is my favorite. “Rudder machine”, “metal drive bone”

It all feels very cheap, as you’d expect. I’m worried about the tie rods and steering knuckle. The tie rods aren’t adjustable and the toe is off on one wheel so I might see if any of my Traxxas tire rods with adjustable threads fit.

The shocks are also super flimsy and have barely any spring rate but they’re removable so I’ll see if my Rustler or Jato springs work, or shim it for some preload. I also have some heavy weight shock oil.

Will be ripping it shortly.

I think your biggest issue will be plastic breakage. Especially now in winter, cold plastic snaps easy. Even high grade stuff does in this weather.

The most likely spots are probably gonna be the steering knuckles, and where the shocks attach to the arms. Highest stress area's on most cars.
