45mph with a 1/5th scale is plenty fast and fun. They are big enough that you can fly over most terrain.

1/8th scale is the sweet spot. Big enough to handle everything, small enough that the power to weight is insane, and more durable than anything else out there.

1/10th scale and below increase the power to weight, but they are small, hard to handle, terrain can be upsetting, and start getting fragile.

Road cars get so boring so fast regardless of the size.

Thats where the larger size is definitely better. My 1/7th scale is damned fun. Its basically a 1/8th scale that's been stretched. Super fun because it can handle any parking lot surface no problem, and its fast as fuck. 0-100 is around 4-5 seconds. 0-60 is under 2.5.
