I'm looking to demo my crappy attached 1.5 car and built a detached 3ish car (24x32ish) garage in the back yard. Can anyone recommend good builders around here?

fwiw id go slightly longer...How are you planning on laying it out? I’m in the process of having a detached 26x40 drawn up right now to submit to some builders and would like to know some of your ideas.
Please explain why.fwiw id go slightly longer...
Because when you add toy car #3 and #4...Please explain why.
The 26 is the gable entrance with a 16’ overhead door; 40 long with an 8’ door on the side at the opposite end.
Two toy cars will get parked at 16’ entrance. 10’ walls give me opportunity for a small 10x10 loft for storage above my tool boxes and workbench. Small overhead door for tractor. Gives me around 26x 8 for a project car.
Also have an attached 2 car
I have plenty of land, that’s not the issue. Just not seeing why longer.
Agreed. A couple feet longer will give more room to get around when you have toys 2 deep.fwiw id go slightly longer...

where are you b00sted
I don't mean to derail. I'm mostly posting just to get notifications, but how is your property laid out? Is it possible to keep the attached but add a detached? That's kinda what I hope to get whenever I move. It's nice to have the attached for normie/dd stuff and a separate place for work/toys.
Good luck either way! More space is always great.
its now a barn not a garage?Oak Lawn
It's a 55x155 lot. Oak Lawn only allows one garage - so the only other option would be to turn the attached garage into a carport, which some neighbors have done. However, this thing is pretty crappy and is settling weird and pulling away from the house a little bit, so it's best to just eliminate it.
My buddy in Bartlett had a garage built and turned the existing 1 car garage on the side of his house into a carport. It actually came out very nice and the carport does get used daily. I wouldnt recommend his builders though. Not that they did a bad job, they actually did a great job. But they were friends of his doing it as side work, so it took forever.Oak Lawn

I'm glad it worked out well for him, because Danley's has absolutely horrendous reviews from everything I've seen.My dad used Danley a few years ago to have a 24x34 built in Evergreen Park. It turned out nice and hasn't had any issues. It's about 9 years old now.
I didn't know they were still in business. The garage at the other house was built by them in 1992. It's pretty well built and still standing.
