I’m pretty sure I’ll get in trouble if I take my dirt bike out on my lake there’s allegedly a rule against taking motorized stuff out on the ice, butttttt I just ordered 400 short tire studs and I want to stud the tires on my bicycle, the other day I was out on the main channel and it was 5” thick I think it would be bad ass to get a video ripping around the lake on a bike and make it way faster to get to the fishing spot, give me pointers if you have them

Had studs on my Scrambler and ripped it up and down the Fox River when it froze years ago.

If they're too long you will puncture the tire even though you screwed them into the lugs of the tire so just verify thread length before going wild. I know dirt bike tire lugs are usually a bit beefier than ATV tires but out of 500 or so studs I did, ONE got through to the inner wall on one tire.

It's an entirely different world with them, even in snow. Loved running on ice, even on an ATV. Bike would be wild.

Oh also, depending on how much grip/slip you want, and again the size of the lugs, you can usually get away with 1 screw per lug and be totally fine. If you want all of the grip, you can run as many as you want that will fit on the lug itself.

I ran 1 per lug but from sidewall to sidewall there was usually 3-4 lugs on an ATV tire. Again, I know dirtbike tires usually have a huge center lug and multiple side lugs. So maybe 2-4 in the center and one on the sides?

I don’t have them but there’s about 20 kids on beaver that ride on the lake doing wheelies when it’s thick enough. Only 3” right now in the bays. We have a good bit of water movement by the dam. If you have good luck with the studs let me know. I have a spare wheel I could stud on my CRF250.
I was out fishing by the island 2 nights ago and it was 4.5” thick, my neighbor walked down to the far north end past the dam and it was still pretty thick

I did one for my bmx bike just to see how it would go still waiting on the tire liner to make sure the tube stays good

Ok I should have waited on the actual ice studs to come because they are way better than the screws I used I finished it up today but I may make one more tire and use the ice studs rather than screws, I ground the tips of the screws off ware they poked through the tire and covered them with a liner and foil tape to protect the inter tube

We used to stud tires back in the day at the tire shop I worked at. Super easy if you've actually got the gun to do it but tedious as hell.

I'd run a lil more than foil tape over those screws maybe an old inner tube cut up and then the liner and even then a lil slime wouldn't hurt but not enough to where it starts shakin..

Always hated having to do bike tires those finger pinching bead locks can go to hell lol
