This was a pain in the ass. I wanted a rear light bar…but lack of mounting options kept me from doing it. I was out in the garage one day and noticed the blank spot in the faux rear skid plate. I removed the bumper and started cutting. Was able to wire it in to the OEM rear fog light switch. Pretty happy with it

This is a 2.5t right? How are you liking the power so far? I’m intrigued with them and how cheap they are, also encouraging there’s so many with a wild amount of miles.
2.5t, it’s not a screamer. More tractor like. Feels very tourqy, about 200ish hp. The 2.5 blocks can’t take much past 300 before they come apart. Could swap in a v70r/60r motor and a bigger turbo, but even there you are limited to 400hp.

400k+ miles is not unheard of stock though. Trans, bevel gear, are going to go way sooner.

Amber light down low for the win. Cuts right through the fog/rain/snow.
Yeah, the white bumper light was kind of useless. The overhead bar is so bright, couldn’t even tell when bumper bar was on. I paid $20 for it…so no great loss. The amber bar is twice the wattage of the old light for the win

Did the headliner this weekend. Took about 20 hours total, which seems like a lot; and I was not taking breaks. I was so tired last night, not even sure why I was so sore!

After removing the trim pieces I immediately prepared them for a color coat Friday night. I only did select items, but was pretty time consuming. 3 coats of adhesion promoter / 5 minutes between coats, then 4 coats of color / 15 minutes between coats. I used SEM products.

Saturday morning I pulled out the headliner. The wire loom to the overheads on the drivers side, and the washer fluid line on passenger side were glued to the headliner. I peeled them off before getting it out.

Then pulled out sunroof cover. After pulling off fabric found the foam had turned to a sticky goo. Scraped it off with a razor blade, then used paint remover with a scraper to remove rest. Put on fabric and sound deadening and set aside.

Before I started with anything else, I added sound deadening to the ceiling.

I pulled the fabric off the foam on the headliner. The foam was in great shape so I decided to go over it with the new fabric. I sprayed 3M super 77 on the foam and the fabric as I went. My wife and daughter helped me lay it down. They held the roll as I sprayed and smoothed it out. I waited about 2 hours and trimmed it out.

Going back in took about 4 hours today. I used gorilla tape to reattach the harness and washer hose to the top of the headliner. I had some sound deadening left, so put it on the inside of interior plastics strategicly. Put all the trim back on, and tucked all the fabric back in.

It’s definitely quieter, and I still plan on doing more soundproofing to the doors and floor when I put the system in.

Starting to dig more into a system for the car. I have a Pioneer Bluetooth/media double din. Just added JBL 6.5 components up front and Polk 4x6 plate speakers in the back. Sounds pretty good, but will want a dedicated amp down the road. Picked up a 600w mono block amp for the subs (don’t have subs yet). I’m doing 6.5” subs in the rear doors to save space. Been doing lots of sound deadening/ insulation and it’s getting really quiet now.

Haven’t taken many pics, but here’s a few of the speaker grilles I made for the back. The hard plastics in the back are getting covered with fabric or carpet, haven’t decided yet

Got the last of the doors with my ghetto soundproofing. Looks like the PO did some work on this door, the vapor barrier was loose/ unattached, and had wrong panel fasteners on it. I glued barrier back down, gorilla taped edges. Say what you will about the tool box liner soundproofing, it works really well, much better than the off brand actual soundproofing I added…plus it’s reasonably inexpensive.

I pulled off a pretty cheap sub setup. Kenwood 2x100w amp $35, ct sounds 12” sub $20, wood, $10.

Sounds pretty good, did a sealed cab. Will carpet it eventually…leaving for Kentucky in the am and ran out of time.

I ran it bridged, and although it slammed loud, it was too boomy. Running it in mono (which I think is 150w) and it sounds way more musical

Is that 8 gauge, haven’t seen that in years if so. Power wire needs some slack.
Other than that, nice work
Already fixed. I really intended to have this down firing. I threw some lag bolts in the front for makeshift legs. I’m going to play with the height and when I get it where I want it, I’ll make some proper legs.

This amp doesn’t really need giant cables And it’s a pretty short run.
