Does anyone have any recommendations for good range ammo?

I ask because the last time I went to the range (about 2 weeks ago at 2nd Amend. in McHenry), I wound up buying some ammo at the counter. I had my Diamondback FS9 (9mm) and Colt Govt. model 1911 (.45). The ammo I usually use is Winchester, but I neglected to bring enough and purchased "General" brand rounds there. Normally, I get about 1 round to jam out of 100 in the 9mm and maybe (and I mean maybe) have an issue with 1 round for every 100 rounds or so in the .45. using the Winchester ammo. With the 'General" brand, I had a good 12 rounds jam in my 9 and about 7 with the .45 (which has NEVER happened...like EVER!).

Obviously, I am not buying that crap again, but what do you all use while at the range and how much does it cost?

As a side note, I clean the guns after each outing (takes a good 90 minutes or so for both guns-breakdown cleaning and reassembly) using a pretty generous amount of grease on the slide and all the machined bits inside the guns. Any other advice to help stop the jamming, as I would really hate to have problems when it matters most.

Doesnt walmart still sell that remington ammo for most calibers? If so thats were I would always get ammo from for range. It was cheap and decent quality.

Targetsportsusa.com or palmetto state armory

I shoot a ton of 9mm and .45acp...... For plinking/range ammo I like PMC, Blazer, Federal and S&B. both of these sites have some of the best prices around.

I shot there reman rounds all the time . Not one issue. My go to place for sure.

I was gonna pick some up months ago. Their shipping time sucks. I ended up calling and canceling because it would have been over a month wait.

Maybe things have gotten better since then but it's not enough savings to wait that long

My last order of .223 was to my place in Palatine in like 4 days

This was about a month ago. I've never seen wait times that long unless something was backordered. I've placed about 15 orders with them.

I have had a long wait time on some .308. But this does not bother me. Im just picking up some extra ammo when they have 5-10% off sales. I always keep enough on hand so I am in no rush for the order to arrive .

I've always had pretty quick shipping from freedom munitions. Worst case, I think I've waited maybe 6 business days.

I will say with 1911s you may be into more subjective territory. Glock or similar like my SD9 with an unsupported chamber may deform the brass more than a 1911 will.

I typically only use my reloads although PMC Bronze, UMC, WWB, Fiocchi and PPU have been go to in the past.
