Hey a co-worker has a problem in his 5.0 with a clutch cable that keeps breaking due to as a shop puts it "getting hot from an electrical current" traveling through it? Is this even possible?
Never seen a clutch cable do this....
But I have seen an automatic trans cable melt down inside the sheath from a poor ground strap between block and frame.
If it is indeed suffering from a poor ground it can be tested for with voltage drop testing and confirmed.
It's a mechanical cable, nothing electric about it. Needs OEM cable, though I had some luck with adjustable cables when I had a manual in my car, but they have to be adjusted correctly. I always worked on my own car, but this shop sounds shady unless there's a some thing way off with the cars electrical system.
