Whats everyone hearing and seeing for 2020/2021 school plans?

Im talking elementary middle and high school k-12.

"IF" Its going to be 100% virtual and zoom or online classes I will be shipping my wife and kids back to North Dakota.

Plans Im hearing for Virginia are 4 day weeks with 5th day for "teacher prep"

Umm this is going to open up a whole new can of worms.

Less school? No!

Riddle me this batman. Spring 2020 school year from March to early June being remote zoom only for elementary age students is a hige flop IMO. How is this next year going to be any different!?

Heres 1 hours zoom class for the day good luck.

Our kids deserve better and this whole virus scam will next be used as an excuse to keep kids out of school!

This whole proposed situation pisses me off.

Its lazy and irresponsible!

I know alot of people here have kids whats everyones plans?

I smell a disaster approaching!

Ours will probably be a choice (physically go in or e-learning), and right now, I think the wife and I are on the same page about keeping them at home and doing e-learning. Kids and schools are petrie dishes for disease. The last thing we want is another spike in this pandemic just as they're going back and them catching it because of that, no matter how the state is "trending."

There already states panicing OMG 2nd wave. I dont think ANY in classroom schooling is going to happen period.

To include any pre k Daycare. None of those will be open either.

Im prolly just pissy and irritated but I see zero end insight and Im incredibly sick of excuses.

What irks me the most is grown ass adults using every cop out imagineable.

No one wants to do a damn thing just sit on unenjoymemt and collect that extra 600 a week so I mean hey why should teachers go back either right?

Our district has been emailing out surveys about this and they say only 20% want to do full e-learning. The remote shit didn't work for our youngest who has an IEP for severe documented and medicated ADD, and is supposed to get extra help but that never happened once they closed the campus. He has issues focusing to begin with, so without constant supervision he gets zero accomplished, so I don't know WTF I'm going to do if he doesn't go back full time, he's really getting left behind because of this shit.

Exactly my concern too. Ive got a 10 year old and 8 year old. My youngest was in Speech Class for an hour per day with a specialist too.

This whole situation irks me so bad for young kids there really is no good option. E learning is garbage for any children under Middle School IMO!

Man, further school closures would be a big problem for kids, they lose enough knowledge in just the 3 months of summer. You also can't ask working parents to figure out a way to stay home with their kids indefinitely, much less find time to educate them while working from home (if that's even an option for them). This virus has basically no impact on children and they have "mixed results" when it comes to whether asymptomatic children can spread it. Open the fucking schools, or if you refuse, lay off the entire school staff and cut taxes so the households you're putting all the burden on have a little more breathing room. All of a sudden, given that dose of reality & logic, their shitty "e learning/indefinite closure" solution may not have much support.

Indiana plans to reopen in the fall, that's all I care about (even though I don't have any kids in school)

Open the schools up and figure something out to keep high-risk school employees at home or isolated when at work. Fucking governments are useless

Forsure! Think theyll have the balls to tell the teachers to teach and do their jobs or take a hike!?

Good luck. See this is 100% a case of more I talk about it and more views I get from other people the more it pisses me off.

But but but its the adult staff that will catch the RONA!! The kids education has zero value when people can give excuse after excuse to NOT do anything and attempt to justify this bogus Elearning.

Interested as to what parent surveys are reflecting

E-learning was shit. I know they didn't have much time to prepare, but if that's going to happen again in the fall, I hope they're much more prepared. Half the time, I couldn't really tell what my son was supposed to be doing and where he was supposed to be doing it...and then posting the work on some other website.

Virtual learning via zoom or whatever is a disaster for anything under high school IMO.

Enough is enough. We have phased reopening for everything else. Id even be satisfied if they had classrooms open 2 or 3 days a week and elearning the rest of the week. Then move back to 5 days a week.

All elearning is irreaponsible IMO. And puts no effort into reopening.

You cant tell me all the staff is on house arrest in their own homes. If they are willing to be out in public for other daily needs then they can be in the classroom too.

This further proves my belief not nearly enough emphasis and priority is placed on school in this country as a whole.

IMO teachers and education is essential so treat it as such!

If people want to argue its not essential then fine give ALL the communities back their money from taxes collected for each school district and guess the teachers salaries can be cut too!

Ive had enough of the excuses.
