I’ve decided on the F150. I found a 2011 king ranch with ecoboost. It’s a little more than I wanted to spend and a I didn’t look at many trucks in the 20-24k range. That does open the option for some platinum models.
Most people seem to prefer the ecoboost over the 5.0. I’m not concerned on gas mileage.

Curious for any input on these cars, thanks.

My opinion is that a good old V8 will survive longer than a boosted six under constant stress

the 5.0s run good. i wouldn't discredit them if you can find a clean one.

i dont think you can go wrong either way, id personally lean 5.0 though.

I personally do not have one.

My cousin had one though for quite some time that I drove occasionally & rode in.

Lifted on bigger tires, pulled my fatgtp with ease and sounded awesome doing so.

If EcoBoost, I'd concern myself mainly with 13/14's over the 11/12's as Ford redesigned the wastegates and other things after the 12MY.

5.0 any '12+, the 11's were a bit shaky IIRC.

As for 5.0 vs 3.5EB, it really depends where you want the powerband. EB's are peak torque at ~2k and flat throughout the band whereas 5.0's like a bit more RPM and have a traditional curve. Personally, either is a great choice with the edge going to EB if you're towing near capacity or a sizable enclosed.

5.0 just because ecoturds sound funny. But if you don't care about that then buy whichever you can find a better deal on.

Sounds good. Unfortunately no towing. Would love a boat but not happening. Mainly truck will be for side jobs moving HVac equipment

Errrr.....

Wouldn't it be vastly cheaper to just buy Van or Compact truck if you don't even intend to tow?

Or just buy a hitch for whatever you already own, and pickup a little trailer to move around HVac Equipment?

Ridgeline is too small. These air conditioners are big these days. I also move other stuff. For me the truck on a good year will get about 5,000miles.

This actually does sound like a job for a Ridgeline...

...so instead go look at 1-ton dually's

If you get a 5.0 and want to add power sky is the limit since 90% of the mustang stuff bolts onto it, 5.0 is reliable and so is the 6r80 trans, not positive if the truck 5.0’s had some of the early mustang issues but I’d go 13 or newer just to be safe

I had a '13 ecoboost. The power is really nice if you pull. If not, get either one and you'll be happy.

If you do go ecoboost, you should get a 13+.

Ideally i was looking under 17000, but going 2011 and up I’ve raised it to $23000
so, 23k or less, crew cab? 4wd? large enough to haul some stuff?

what other requirements.

23k can go a pretty long way in truck land.

care about miles?

I had a 2010 with the 5.4 and that truck was rock solid! Recently sold it to my dad and picked up my 2015 3.5 ecoboost. It moves out for a big truck. I was a bit skeptical of the ecoboost but loving the twin turbo beast. My suggestion......... Drive both.

that 14 ram with 55k miles almost seems too good to be true.
