Need some help and or advice.

We have a 2004 Subaru Forester that we gave to my son. It’s super clean inside and out. Only has 42k miles.

A few months ago the exhaust got really loud and we noticed that the secondary cat rusted out. We had a local shop weld in some pipe and now it’s perfect.

The problem now is while under the car looking at the exhaust we noticed the subframe is rusted to shit. It literally looks as if it could all come apart at any time.

Any one on here have the ability to swap out say the passenger side and drivers side subframe and maybe even the front subframe?? We really don’t want him driving this thing very much in case it does come apart. We also can’t bring ourselves to just trade it off or sell it. It’s otherwise a fantastic little car for him that he owns and is great on gas.

Let me know what you guys think. We leave on vacation 12/18 and will be back 12/30. I would like to bring it somewhere so they can work on it while we are gone.

Thank you in advance!!

Matt

Talk to the guys over at Six Star in Schaumburg. They specialize in Subaru's. I've known the owner, Sam since 2005 when he was a tech at P & L Motorsports. Good guys over at the shop.
