*updated* 2003 Cobra service manual download *updated*

I got my hands on the service manual for a 03 cobra, I thought maybe you'd guys would be insterted :dunno: . The stuff I got isn't any old service manual :cool: , It is the same stuff the dealers use, straight from fordtechservice.com which requires deal status to access it :D . It includes all of the torque specs, sequences, special tools, pictures, step by steps pretty much everything, very cool stuff. Although I was only appeal to get this for the engine it self :rolleyes: , Im working on getting transmission rebuild, differential rebuild, dash removal and a few other things for all of you do it your selfers like me. So I will try to keep it updated. All of files are zipped together, then they are pdf files so Winzip and Adobe Acrobat are a must! ENJOY

Kevin

Follow these instructions

1. Download the manual.

2. Unzip the file to: C:\TSO

3. Run setup.exe from there.

4. When installing the program install it to a custom location called C:\TSO

5. Now you have two options, you can open tsobrowser.ini and modify the line to say:
03Must=1~1~C:\TSO\~stock\home.htm~2003 Mustang~October 2002
-or-
You can download this file here(Right-Click-Save As):
http://www.raccoonracing.com/Mustang/Documents/tsobrowser.ini

6. Replace the file tsobrowser.ini with this one in your C:\TSO folder.

So close but not there

:dunno:

Ok, I was able to down load it and unzip. I replaced the tsobrowser file with the file provided for downloading in post 18 (at least I think I replaced the correct file because none of the files are shown with an extension). Now how do I open the program. Clicking on the tsobrowser icon (file type: application) brings up a box that says

"The specified volume could not be found: '2003 Mustang' (1)
It is expected to be in this location: C:\tso\
When you have loaded the specified volume into this location pres Retry to continue, or Cancel to abort this operation."

Pressing Retry has no effect, but pressing cancel or closing the box brings up a full size window with a red image (box) in the main panel which has pictures of a couple of cars and says " service Information" and "2003 Mustang October 2002" and copyright info etc.

The other panel (left side) says at the top "Technical Services" under a Ford oval and has 4 tabs at the bottom "about" "Volumes" "options" and "Exit".

Clicking about opens a box that gives the file version etc and confirms that Acrobate 5.0,SVG Vier 3.0 and Shock wave Flash are installed.

Clicking Volumes opens a box that says 2003 Mustang with a button that says "Load".

Clicking "load" opens the same box that says "the specified volume could not be found".

Clicking options opens an option box that can not be accessed because over it is that same box about not finding the volume, which if closed also closes the option box.

Sorry about the length of this post, but I figure the more info the more likely someone can help me out. Thanks for putting up with this computer semi-noobie

Oh yea, there a couple of pdf docs in spanish, whats up with that?

Lets update this shall we.
THESE INSTRUCTIONS ARE DIFFERENT FROM WHAT HAS BEEN POSTED ELSEWHERE. IT LOOKS SIMILAR BUT ITS NOT.
I know its hard campers but READ through these instructions before you try to install this. I redid this and am posting it up with some simpler instructions for those that arent as savvy with computers. This manual is well worth it.
http://www.freefilehosting.net/cobramanual

Instructions:
READ THESE TO THE BOTTOM BEFORE YOU BEGIN FOR SOME YOU GUYS THIS WILL BE HARD.... ITS A GUY THING LIKE DIRECTIONS

This is a bit confusing to a lot of you and this will simplify it. Most of you are getting lost in the fact that this doesnt want to work when installing from your desktop.

Download the file. Here it is in one zipped file and the name has obviously been changed to 2003 Manual.

You will need to unrar or unzip this file. It will unrar to a folder named 2003 Manual.

You will need to burn the contents of this folder (not the folder itself) ie (content, data, stock, tools, data1, data1.hdr etc) straight to a cd. Not into a folder. Afterwards when the cd is opened you will see exactly 13 files/folders.

Create a folder on your C:\ drive and name it TSO just as you see it. Now you see C:\TSO

Open the cd and run the setup.exe file and start the install. When it asks where to install choose this TSO folder. Install it there. Dont install adobe 5. (Install a newer version of Adobe Acrobat Reader.) Do install the svg 2.0 viewer. Do not start the program yet.

Go to my computer or computer and open to see what the drive letter is for your cd rom. Mine is D:/ and most likely yours will be too. Make note of that.

Now go to the folder c:/TSO that you created and installed the program to. Open and find the tsobrowser.ini file. This file will be a document with a little sprocket on it. Open it. It should open in a text document for editting. The fourth line down is all that needs to be editted. This is probably what it looks like:

03Must=1~1~C:\TSO\~stock\home.htm~2003 Mustang~October 2002

We need to change where the program is looking for the files. We dont want it to look in a folder we want it to look on a drive. Change the drive location to what ever your cd drive is. Mine is D:/ Omit any folder as we are going straight to the drive. The program will find what it needs from there. Remove the TSO and change the drive location just as you see mine below. Save it. Close and run the "Service Information" icon on your desktop.

03Must=1~1~D:\~stock\home.htm~2003 Mustang~October 2002

The CD must be in your drive to run this program.

Note: if you have previously installed this from say the desktop you may need something like "windows manager" to clean out your registry as the previous installation has likely installed registry keys linking to this program. Try to install it first then do this if it fails.
