These were fun back in the early 90s. Was able to pick up a lower miles one on the cheaper side as compared to a Camaro / Mustang.

Affordable when one was making minimum wage after graduating HS back then.

If someone is buying this it's likely just for the nostalgia because this was their car in HS that they first got laid to or something.....

Only reason I would buy a 1989 Escort GT as well, it's definitely not because it's worth $4700.

Oh I’m used to the jokes and they don’t bother me at all, I’m the “old man” that married a hot younger woman and we have a great marriage. She’s the first one to always jump on the age gap jokes and says things like “If you would’ve taken me to prom you would’ve been arrested!” or like when I got my 20th anniversary gift from work she just casually said “Wow…..you started there in 2000……….I was 14…….perverted old man!”
I do get her back on a lot of things like when she tells me how to drive and I remind her I’ve been driving since she was 3 and now that she’s in her 30’s and age is catching up to her I’ll tell her “I hope when I’m as old as you are I’m in better shape.”

My go to response is “The age difference works well because I’m very immature for my age.” It tends to throw people off and they don’t know what to say, and it shows I don’t care.

It wasn’t that bad. I got my license in 1990 and was driving a 1979 Pontiac Grand Prix SJ in jade green with the anemic 301. By 92 when this came out I had me a brand spanking new S-10 with the venerable 2.8 V-6 and a 5spd. I’d still choose the S-10 over the Escort.

My former boss bought a then-new 1993 40th anniversary Corvette, which was a blast to drive. We didn’t have today‘s choice of vehicles to compare against. So to a high school or college kids getting one of these might have been the best present ever.

These had 127hp and came in around 2350lbs, that's really not all that bad for the time. Wasn't ever 'fast' but would have been pretty fun with a 5spd. Bet it makes an awesome Lemons car now though.

the old rule of thumb was a 5spd makes any car more fun.

This needs a K24 swap.
