Oe is split on em.
I had to pretty much install the whole bloody stillen catalog on one for a coworkers pops.
Dropped it all out when he added a clutch to the list after the 2 new bigger turbos

Had me delete the rear steer too, worked fine.

Thing was an animal.

He kept everything, brought a buncha bins with him one day.

Went from that pale yellow eyesore to a dark blue metallic not long after.
I pulled the VG almost immediately, so i never even did as much as an oil change on it. I heard theyre a nightmare to work on in stock form...

That sounds sweet, do you have pics? I love how these cars look, but i am biased of course. Wonder where it is now, probably worth a pretty penny

Coolant piping is all done, that it went a little faster than I anticipated. Now I need to plumb the inlet for the turbo, I'm not going to have it suck in hot air from behind the radiator so it's going to go in front of the tire. That should be a little project in itself. Also my tool for bead rolling, it's an old vise grip with a cut-up exhaust clamp welded to it. It doesn't look as good as an actual bead roll, but it gets a job done. These pipes will be powdercoated when everything else is ready. I still need a weld some shit to the charge pipe and finish the turbo inlet, so it'll probably get powder coated then.

Coolant pipes finished with welding, and powder coated them in prismatic universe. Also did the alt bracket. Didnt like how the silicone fittings were going on the charge pipe so i stripped that all the way down so i can weld a vband on it. Also going to powdercoat that, probably a different color though

Edit: I'll probably just switch to updating weekly, this stuff isn't very exciting but it comes with the territory so i want to include it

Weekly photo dump. I welded an HD style clamp onto the throttle body and charge pipe, and I ordered a pipe and pie cut it in well with it to get fresh air from in front of the driver side tire running into the turbo. I know the wiring is a mess down there right now but I'll clean it up. Just excited that I got a place to get fresh air and a filter. I'm waiting on more parts too, and i am almost out of argon 😭IMG_20241009_213541504_HDR.jpgIMG_20241011_134904172_HDR.jpgIMG_20241011_134912756.jpgIMG_20241011_134241334_HDR.jpg

Started tearing the engine back down. I need to partially pull the works back out to grind some tabs off the transmission. I need to do some other modifications while im in there. I really dont feel like pulling this again lol

Throttle body powder coated and welded a flange on it. Not in that order haha. No silicone couplers to blow off
IMG_20241016_203737458_HDR.jpg
Finally finished welding the charge pipe, and welded an adapter and clamp flange on them

Powder coated said turbo and charge pipe. Too bad the turbo will be buried, it turned out pretty good. I also welded a bung for the iat sensor on the charge pipe

Ground the manifolds down where the down pipe is going to run. There is such little room that i had to. I then sandblasted the entire hot side, fixed some pinholes and prepped it for ceramic coating. I also installed the summit bracket racer balancer, classed up the engine a lot. I pulled the engine and transmission last night to grind a tab off the t56 that was hitting the tunnel. No amount of further hammering was going to clear it otherwise. I Feel like im getting some momentum now.

I found some shitty (free) angle aluminum in the corner of my garage, from the last tenants. So I borrowed some and started on the oil cooler mount, its pretty much done other than some finishing touches. It was super dirty and almost welded like cast, super dirty and porous. but she should get the job done

Back at it. Ground out and re-welded the exhaust manifold since it was cracked. I did a lay-wire technique to fill the gap. Im hoping it holds. IMG_20241103_181021711.jpgI pressed the new bearings in and reassembled the throttle body. I also die ground the inlet to give the air a gentler transition.IMG_20241103_191828497_HDR.jpg Then got the hot side put together and test fit the new powdercoated piecesIMG_20241103_194911291_HDR.jpg
