Gotta say the first box I took apart I almost puked from the smell of it burning 3-4 up. I bet that is pretty similar. Love the welded clutches, mine just turned into warped blu d steel.

Surprisingly it didn't smell as bad as some of the other stuff I've pulled apart, that's probably because I accidentally "flushed" the trans fluid when I pulled the axle the first time I had the motor out.

Got the trans fully apart. What a disgusting piece of art.

I feel like I should clean up the case a little more before I start shoving stuff back in it. I used two whole cans of oven cleaner and it's still not pretty. :ROFLMAO:
Shops around here want $100 to clean it too. I'll do a little more hand cleaning then show some progress pics. All of the internals are minty clean after the sonic cleaner. So now I just need to tear down the 31TH and combine the two. Hopefully will be making a video comparing the differences between the A413 and the 31TH.

Was trying to get clutches to fit in my direct drum and nothing would fit. With all the factory stuff in it came out to .0005" (You read that right) of clearance. Well turns out my bonneville spring was broke. -__-

Took one out of another transmission and wam bam, now I have .009" of clearance with a .060" snap ring, so need to get a thinner snap and I'm good to go

I swear I'm still working on this guys. Just taking me forever because I've never done a transmission before. Plus don't really have the greatest of tools for transmission stuff.

Tapped the case for the accumulator in case I want to delete the accumulator in the future. 1/8" NPT plugs. So if I want to make the shift even firmer I can remove the middle accumulator and put these plugs in.

Locking down the transfer gears is fun. They require 200lb*ft of torque and these use a swappable spacer under them to adjust preload. So lots of torquing and removing, which is kind of difficult considering I have literally nothing to strap this transmission too lol. My work bench has wheels on it, so it's not stable enough to hold it. All my other tables are light weight metal.

Tried using a pair of cut proof gloves to jam the gears together for torquing. Nope.

I'll probably be building a tool like this:

I already built one for the 2.2/2.5 that can be flipped over and used for a 2.0/2.4 Chrysler engines.

Alright. Back to building! Parts here and now I'm getting stuff together.

The one way sprag uses these tiny little springs and bearings that need to be help in while you flip it upside into the transmission. A friend suggested using a roll of tape... I'll be damned.

So going to be getting stuff going. I'll give y'all updates when there is cool milestones.

Meant to watch these the other night. That was actually pretty interesting to me. But I have always been a fan of those "spot the difference" challenges  It is actually kinda amazing how little differences there are, being 10 years apart. But the improvements that have been made seem quite significant.

And the follow up vid  I agree! Send that bitch!
