Back in April I drove out to Detroit to pick up this 82 Fairmont. It has 63k miles and is in overall great condition.

The plan is to swap in a pretty basic 5.3 engine and a th400, along with a turbo or nitrous...I haven't decided yet. I also want to keep it as stock appearing as possible, for obvious reasons.

Here's a few pictures in stock form, I'll be updating this thread as I make progress:

Also, picked up some period-correct vanity plates :D

That is what I was really looking for when I found my Mustang. Fairmonts rule.

Damn that thing is fantastic.

Also, hate to be that guy, but LS swapped fairmonts are probably as common as LS swapped Mustangs at this point. Not much sleeper appeal anymore.

I just saw a Fairmont about two weeks ago driving through our subdivision and had to do a double take... Couldn't believe what I was seeing.

I briefly considered a 2JZ.

I was into 4-door shitboxes before Denmah somehow made them cool. This is circa 2010 and had 28k on the clock:

consider a LSA setup?
i would not be doing any N20 combos due to the price per lb

also, you need 80e. not th400

I'm going to do an s475 or s480 turbo I decided. I'd like to do a 4L80 eventually, but I can throw a nice th400 together for cheap.
although true, it sure is nice to have overdrive and lockup.

just like a 400, a 80e doesnt need much to hold onto 800ish hp. but converters are a bit more than a 400
