TURBO UPDATES START HERE - https://www.thechicagogarage.com/threads/01bluesnakes-2018-tt-gt350.173540/post-4278124

Sooo, couldn't wait any longer for my '94 cobra to be done, needed my fix lol. As seeing how my other turd box is moving away from 'street car' manors, I wanted something I could take out to shows, cruise, and just enjoy. I do plan to fuck this car up, so for any Shelby purists, this thread will not be your friend. I'm not a big road race guy, been there, and done that with some of my older cars. While fun, I like my short burst, lame 1/4 mile racing that takes no skill (kidding). Some may remember me, some may not, for those that do, you know what's coming lol.

I picked up the car a few weeks ago from Fargo ND, was a long trip but worth it. Car is bone stock, with 2600 miles on it. It's a lead foot gray, strip delete car, babied its whole life. Heres some pics from that journey. Left at 7am, got back at 3am that night. Was so tired, just pulled the trailer in the garage with the car and said fuck it lol.

Bad modification change, can't win them all. I ended making the decision to order the kooks axle back kit, which now i regret. I was hoping it would allow the car to sound like the valves open, full time. Stock programming is to shut the valves on start up and close in 6th gear, which got annoying after a bit. I probably should of just ordered the sim unit to keep the valves always open, but thought these would also drop a few lbs of weight too. Initial impression, that the car is quieter, and no more spool noise ? Im going to let the mufflers break in, give it some time, but I may be pulling this system off if its quieter then the stock setup and spool noise is lost.

Stock active is tough to beat IMO.

Just Steeda X pipe on mine with factory Active.

The stock mufflers work and sound great, its just the valve operation that got annoying after a while.
The stock GT350 exhaust has to be the best stock sounding exhaust ever. Shit sounds amazing.

They do, it was a battle, went back and forth for weeks before I finally ordered them. Not much info out there on sound, they are pricey and stock sounds great, so I think everyone avoids changing.
I've been debating exhaust to increase spoolie boi noises as well. I don't wanna regret spending 1200-1900 bucks ?

I think if the stock system is very restrictive or chambered, then moving to something that is straight through will help. In my case, the stock mufflers work great, and the kooks while straight through, have more noise canceling design.

Stock exhaust is valved but I've got a downpipe (catted) and a res delete and that definitely gives me turbo noises. I've been debating the AWE track exhaust but I fear it might be too loud for daily use.

Based on my experience, dont do it ?

I'm sure there's plenty of videos and info out there for guys who switched in the VW community. I feel like the GT350 owners are not so much the DIY crowd, or guys who do multiple setups and test parts with reviews.

The track is basically straight through, so it should increase noises. The switchpath maintains valve functionality. I dunno. I don't need it and my current setup only has a little rasp around 32/3500.

If your happy with the sound, I would probably just leave it. Im sure the track setup would probably get old quickly if too loud or raspy.

Made a few changes and updates on the car for MKE, in hopes that I could leave under full power on the two step, that was a no go ? so needless to say, now i have to pop in the clutch i have for the car, didn't even make it second gear before it just wouldn't hold. I did upgrade the oil pump and crank gear finally, went with the Boundary Martin wear coated vain gear. While I doubt I'll see any kind of benefit from it, figured why not. I did notice the car has more oil pressure, and quicker when getting into the rpm, so that may be a plus. I ended up installing the stock mufflers, just couldn't do the kooks any longer, i needed my spool noise back. The last item on the list was installing a lighter spring in the bov. The current spring wasn't allowing the bov to open on cold starts which was producing some compressor surge. It was also causing some funky initial tip in when going from a stop as the turbos are trying to make boost at very light throttle. That got taken care of though, so happy with that small change.

Got the clutch yanked out, definitely some hot spotting and that good burnt smell emanating from it lol. Thankfully I plan ahead, and had a clutch already here, didn't expect stock to last long. I went with the Spec SS twin, some very nice clutches, great driveability and price. You can see how much more surface area the spec has over stock, that alone is a big plus. Another observation is the factory dual mass flywheel goes away, and is now a light weight aluminum with a steel insert from Spec. I went with the SS, as its very much like the 2+ clutch for the coyote, which works and feels great. This just uses two of those disc, instead of one. I've pushed the single 2+ clutches on the coyotes well into the 700whp range, so this should take 1000whp easy. Now the headache starts, trying to find time and places to drive so I can break it in lol.
